The Tropical Environment • Geckos and Good Luck: You will notice harmless tiny geckos which make a cute "gek-ko" sound. The Balinese believe if you hear them while you speak, you are telling the truth! They, along with beautiful fireflies and other insects, are natural mosquito predators. • Fish and Frogs: Our ponds are full of fish and the occasional frog, celebrating that Bali lies in the healthy tropics, which keeps the area warm and lush. • Our Philosophy: We aim for a balance between the modern and the natural. We fog for dengue mosquitos approximately twice a year but otherwise resist spraying to protect the delicate ecosystem. • A Note on Tropics: If you are highly sensitive to insects or require a completely sterile environment, you may prefer a large resort that sprays its entire grounds. We provide bug sprays, repellants, and an electronic insect zapper for your comfort.
