Tranquil, country wildlife retreat

Our fully self-contained guest suite is located above our farmhouse offering rural tranquility, privacy, security and a stunning view over the surrounding countryside. Set on 10 acres, we have a herd of fallow deer, sheep and ponds with resident families of wild ducks. We are constantly adding native plants and trees to the setting. We have all the benefits of the countryside - peaceful open spaces, and ready access to the coastline, beaches, forests and rivers of North Canterbury. The space We live in a sturdy established farmhouse and have renovated our self-contained upstairs unit for the benefit of guests who would like to enjoy all the features that the North Canterbury region offers. Our resident herd of deer graze just below your suite - and can be encouraged to partake in photography by enticing them with tasty 'deer pellets'. Young fawns are born in December and, while secretive, are a delight. Our wild ducks increase in number with every season, and also respond well to a tempting meal. Guest access Our lawn areas & grounds interpersed with ever expanding groves of native trees & shrubs are there for you to enjoy - whether relaxing at an outdoor table & seating setting by the pond, or enjoying a bbq by the spa pool. There are multiple options for outdoor privacy and relaxation. We are located on the gateway to the renowned Hurunui wine growing district with a multitude of excellent vineyards on hand. Lovely coastline areas are very handy: Waikuku beach is less than 15 minutes from your suite. The towns of Rangiora and Amberley with all amenities are 10 minutes away. We are only 35 minutes from Christchurch International Airport. We are well-located centrally for day excursions to Kaikoura, Christchurch, Akaroa and Banks Penininsula. We provide under-cover car parking. Other things to note We have a winter spa pool available to guests (please let us know in advance if you do wish to use it), as well as a spacious deck & private seating & table locations overlooking the ponds and fields. Great places for a morning coffee or evening wines and snacks.
