Dipper Cottage, lake access, pet friendly

Next to pretty Torver beck and with lake frontage to the quiet western shore of Coniston Water, this is the perfect place for a 'get-away-from-it-all' break. Originally part of an old mill building the Cottage has modern facilities but retains lots of character. Surrounded by fantastic scenery on all sides you don't need to go far to enjoy the beauty of the Lakes. Relax by the river, or stroll down to the lake. Walk up onto the Common for amazing views, or explore the lake and island by canoe. The space This 300 year-old traditional stone watermill has been cleverly converted into three individual and attractive cottage-style apartments. In an idyllic riverside setting beside tumbling Torver Beck, each of the three apartments (Dipper, Wren and Robin) are full of character and retain many original features such as exposed stone walls and beams, whilst ensuring comfort and warmth after the day's activities. The grassy lane beside the beck leads to a large wooded field (sheep-free - a haven for dogs) and on to the secluded lake-shore, where you can sit in peace and enjoy the views, or jump into a canoe to explore the lake and the island. Formed from the original wheelhouse, you enter at first floor level into a beamed entrance hall off which lie the 2 bedrooms and bathroom (with powerful pumped shower over bath). Quaint winding stairs lead down to a cosy living area where a low window-seat looks straight out onto pretty waterfalls. Guest access The lake shore, which is a short stroll down the lane, is shared with the main Sunny Bank Mill House (another holiday let). We have Canadian canoes for hire - these are £50 to hire for your stay, including buoyancy aids. There is plenty of space for parking, and an EV charge point is available (flat rate, price on application, bring your own type 2 cable). Other things to note Your well-behaved dogs are welcome, with no extra charge, on the understanding that they are not allowed on the beds, nor on the sofas without your own dog blanket, and that no sign of the dog is evident in the property or grounds on departure. They must not be left alone in the property unless caged and must be closely supervised in the area around the Cottages, on the way down to the lake and at the lake shore. They must be fully treated for fleas before arrival. Thank you for your understanding!
