The basement will be off-limits. The rest is all yours! We are available to answer questions and provide suggestions to make your stay even more enjoyable! While we don’t live in the home, we are close by. During longer-term stays we may need to access the property, basement, and yards for lawn care and other maintenance. Visit Music City says it best: "The always growing, thriving, eclectic, historic, and hip, East Nashville has become one of the city's most-desired areas to live and play. Its low-key vibe and neighborly personality make this community a great place to escape without leaving town. As Budget Travel Magazine calls Historic East Nashville 'Nashville's version of New York's East Village,' East Nashville has attracted many musicians and visual artists to the neighborhood. Mingle with the patrons of the local hangouts and you're bound to meet more than a few musicians and songwriters." Our cottage is walking distance to a handful of restaurants and bars located on Gallatin Rd. (Nicoletto's Italian Kitchen, Mickey's Tavern, Elegy Coffee, The Fox Bar & Cocktail Club), as well as Riverside Village, a charming community of restaurants and shops. To reach the bars and restaurants in Five Points, we recommend grabbing a Lyft or Uber (parking can sometimes be an issue). Ride sharing services are also ideal for trips downtown, which is about a 10-15 minute ride/drive from the house, traffic permitting. RENTING A CAR VS. RIDESHARE VS. PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION Nashville is very much a 'driving' town, so having a car would give you the greatest flexibility for site-seeing. Parking in some areas has gotten expensive with the potential difficulty of finding a spot, but if you want to go downtown there are some affordable options. We recommend that guests try ride-share services like Lyft and Uber. Very often an Uber from the house to downtown can cost about the same as the parking fees, but it depends on when and how long you're going for. As for public transportation, there is an easily walkable bus stop near the end of the street. Walkability: Downtown Nashville and the 5 Points area of East Nashville would not be a walkable distance from the house, and there are not consistent sidewalks to make that a pleasant experience. There are, however, a small handful of restaurants and bars that are within an easy walk from the house. NUMBER OF GUESTS When booking, please review ensure the correct number of guests are entered in. If properly booked before check-in, our standard $25 per guest, per night will automatically apply. If extra guests beyond two stay that are not booked before your arrival, you will be charged an additional $50 per guest, per night. LARGE VEHICLES/PARKING Commercial and oversized vehicles are not allowed (i.e.: RVs, campers, food trucks, trailers, etc.). We have a narrow shared driveway with our neighbors, which makes vehicles of this size inconvenient. LONGTERM STAYS For reservations of a week or longer, we may be in touch to coordinate on-site lawn care, requiring access to equipment stored in the basement via an entrance separate from the guest’s entrance. We may also need to come into the home for maintenance purposes. EXTRA GUEST FEE Our base nightly rate includes two guests. An additional fee of $25 per night per adult guest beyond the initial two will be automatically applied while booking if the correct number of guests are entered. Please enter the correct number of guests in your party when reserving for the correct total to be reflected. RECYCLING/TRASH For stays of a week or longer, it will be necessary to take the trash and recycling out and prepare it for the city to pick up. For shorter stays of a week or less this may be less necessary. We have compiled the following information regarding trash and recycling bins and pick-up: Trash day is every Tuesday, and the recycling is picked up once per month, on the first Tuesday of the month. We have two trash bins and one recycling bin that we store outside at the back of the house. The trash bins are brown/tan color, and the recycling is dark green. All trash must be bagged, and all recyclables must be un-bagged. The bins have to be rolled down to the street to be picked up by the city. The recycling and trash trucks can come as early as 6 am, so we’d recommend pulling them down the night before. We're also happy to come by and pull them down if needed, please just let us know your preference in advance. The black container by the back door is just for glass recycling. That bin does not get picked up by the city. Please let us know if it becomes full during your stay, and we will pick it up to take it to be emptied. UTILITY USAGE Guests are expected to use reasonable care in conservation of utilities not chargeable to the guest. Please do not bring any items or appliances in or on the premises that will create excess usage of any utilities chargeable to the homeowner. Reasonable maximums on utilities based on previous year’s usage during peak in summer months: Metro Water Services = ~$35/month, Nashville Electric Service = ~$120/month, Piedmont Natural Gas = ~$20/month. ALLERGENS The allergens in Nashville in the Spring and Fall are notoriously bad for those with allergies, so it's a good idea to be prepared with any allergy medications you typically need. *Airbnb policy requires we disclose that there is an active Security / Camera / Floodlight / (Ring) on the outside of the rear entrance to the house. We use this exclusively for security purposes, (both ours and our guests) and do not monitor it unless there is a problem. There are no cameras anywhere inside the home. Permit #201524751
