Relaxed Parkside Townhouse - the kingsized room
Relaxed Parkside Townhouse - the kingsized room
Description
Well loved light & cheerful five bedroom Victorian townhouse in South Liverpool. The host has provided a temporary home to guests from all over the world since 1999 pre air B&B. Furnished with a mix of old & new, the rooms are spacious, quiet & comfortable. Fast reliable broadband, peaceful South facing garden, on street parking, room for bikes. Short walk to parks, sports pubs, cafes & street events. Among the last of the award winning Welsh Streets to be repaired next year. Diverse area. The space This family home is large enough to share with guests who come to Liverpool for business or pleasure. The Welsh Streets area was caught up in a controversial regeneration scheme and lay almost completely empty for over a decade while residents sought alternatives to demolition. When empty it looked like a film set (seriously 'Peaky Blinders' was filmed here) Guests continued to stay with us, even when the neighbourhood looked like a ghost town, choosing to either ignore, forgive or enjoy the bricked up terraces. The whole area is now being repaired and re-inhabited. A comprehensive repair scheme for this house is scheduled as part of the overall area improvements. Until then the redecoration schedule for the house is on hold so whilst chic, we are also a bit shabby in places. Our guests are not seeking immaculate décor, or gourmet breakfasts. People stay here because they like the diversity of culture in the area, they meet interesting people in the house, the find it relaxed and sociable, and they can learn a bit about the city if they want to. Guest access Access to the kingsize bed room, family kitchen, patio garden, shared bath room , laundry room and toilet. During your stay Having been a theatrical landlady providing rooms for creative workers of all kinds plus assorted doctors, nurses midwifes and engineers, for the past 20 years I enjoy making connections with the people who come to stay here. Sometimes long term friendships arise between the guests who stay here, and the family have had some great times with visitors, especially those who return. I often connect people with the events, venues and contacts they seek in the city, and if I am too busy – well there is likely to be someone sitting at the kitchen table in the Winter, or out in the back in the Summer to provide a sociable dimension for guests. Equally visitors can stay here in glorious isolation and have no contact with anyone else at all. The house is big enough for guests to keep themselves to themselves if they want to. Guests usually arrange their own food as and when they want to eat and the guest's food is store separately from the hosts. Depending on how busy life is, breakfast might be available on request. We have a 24 hour supermarket so late arrivals and early starters can always find something to eat. Other things to note This is an unusual neighbourhood enclosed on two sides by Conservation Areas, and next to a beautiful Victorian park. It was rescued from demolition following a campaign by local people when the architectural importance of the workers cottages and townhouses to Liverpool was confirmed. The adjoining houses are empty and awaiting repair next year.
