Clyde River Farm & Forest's secluded Northeast Kingdom river retreat, the Clyde River House provides stunning views, shoreline, numerous birds, including bald eagles, nesting osprey, blue herons, and a pair of loons. Canoes and kayaks available for your use. Hiking, biking, cross country, downhill skiing trails, and snowmobile trails are within a short hike or drive of the house. Check out the many seasons of the Clyde River House. There's sure to be a time for you to visit! The Clyde River House is a beautiful 4-season Northern Vermont hideaway retreat. In addition to the three bedrooms (1 king bed, 2 rooms with matching singles) there is a full-size pullout couch in the living room area for an additional 2 guests (total 8 guests welcome with an extra charge of $20/person). Please take a look at our website under Vermont Leadership Partnership! (website hidden) We provide basic morning breakfast staples for your initial arrival including coffee/tea, a box of cereal, some spices, etc. We do not provide juice, fruit or milk, because we found that people usually don't use it. There is a television and dvd player, but no cable or internet. AT&T cellphones work quite well at the River House though, so never fear! We do allow pets, as long as you clean up after them inside and outside. My husband Bill and I live just up the road and run a small organic farm and farm stand, Christmas tree lot, and maple syrup business. We have our own fresh organic maple syrup, blueberries, vegetables, and homemade ice cream cookie sandwiches from the end of May through October. We'll check in with you upon arrival and as needed, but will leave you on your own for a secluded get away. The Northeast Kingdom is famed for its 4-season natural beauty. The house sits right on the Clyde River, with many coves to explore in one of our canoes or kayaks. The Clyde is part of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, so you may see through paddlers passing through on the river. Burke Mountain is a 20 minute drive for family friendly and challenging terrain skiing and snowboarding. Burke also offers world class mountain biking trails for year round enjoyment. The spring and summer at the Clyde River house offer numerous viewings of birds, including a pair of osprey, their nests, a pair of loons, bald eagles, blue heron, and many more. Fall provides you with stunning views of Vermont's fall foliage right from the river, as well as scenic drives. Winter brings beautiful snow, with ice skating right on the river and snowshoeing or cross country skiing right out the front door and ski trails right next door at Northwoods Stewardship Center. Hiking trails abound in the area, as do lakes for all kinds of water fun. Northwoods Stewardship Center (founded by Bill and Pat) boasts winter cross country ski and snowshoe trails, groomed and accessible from the River House itself, as well as wonderful summer camps for your children. Jay Peak Ski resort and Water Park is 45 minutes away. Spring and summertime canoeing and kayaking, biking, etc. are a glorious way to spend a vacation - all right out your front door. And no one needs to spend much time highlighting the absolutely glorious fall foliage 'leaf peeper' tourist pastime that hits 'The Kingdom' each September and October. Vermont has the best foliage season in the country and your personal stove and wood supply make fall evenings cozy. There is so much more to discover in the quaint, historic, and naturally beautiful Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Make sure you bring or rent a car! We require a $100 deposit for all reservations. If the house is left in disarray or anything is broken, we will keep the part or all of the deposit to help with clean-up/repair.
