"BytheSea" is a holiday cottage, renovated to keep the old world charm of early island life with the addition of modern comforts. It is nestled into the base of a Nobby Headland, a private estate, just a 3 minute walk from beautiful Picnic Bay Beach. BytheSea is surrounded by amazing granite boulders, eucalypts and paperbarks – a mecca for birds and the island's wildlife. This retreat offers you peace and quiet to recharge your batteries. The space BytheSea features a living/dining/kitchenette area, 2 bedrooms with queen size beds (153 x 203 cm), air conditioning in the main room and both bedrooms and ceiling fans throughout. Bedroom 2's internal walls are open for the top 60 cm to let the sea breeze through. BytheSea was repainted throughout in early 2022. The kitchenette is well equipped with kettle, toaster, 2 burner hot plate, microwave and air fryer. There is a BBQ near the front deck where you can eat meals and relax. The laundry is just outside the cottage and is shared with the other cottage. There is free off street parking for 2 vehicles 10 metres away. BytheSea is on Yunbenun (Magnetic Island) in Camoomilli (Picnic Bay), the land of the Wulgurukaba people. The only shared space is the laundry with an external door. It is attached to this cottage but not accessible through this cottage. There are 6 stone steps down to the entry door. Other things to note Coming on foot: Sealink Queensland runs the PASSENGER FERRY from the Breakwater Terminal in Sir Leslie Thiess Drive. It is cheaper to book on line using their Go Blue app and you will find the timetable there. You do not need to reserve to travel on a particular ferry. Coming by car: Magnetic Island Ferries runs the VEHICLE BARGE from South Townsville. Please check their website for the timetable. Please ensure you book in advance to get the barge time that you wish. There is no supermarket in Picnic Bay. Nearby Nelly Bay has 2 supermarkets - IGA at the ferry terminal (where both the passenger ferry and vehicle barge come in) and Foodworks at 55 Sooning St. Lava Lava Cafe has excellent coffee and brunch/lunch.
