It is furnished simply and renovated with modern baths, new utilities and appliances, while also maintaining the classic Tuscan style of cotto tile flooring, chestnut-beam ceilings, and a stone stairwell. Note—the Stairwell is not suitable for small children. A tree-lined drive leads up to the villa where there is parking for two vehicles, private outdoor seating, and foyer entrance. An interior stairwell with two flights of stairs leads up to the second-floor apartment. The villages of Pieve and Sant’ Andrea di Compito are nestled in the hills of the Lucca countryside; immersed in the greenery of pine and olive trees, cypress, bay, rosemary, oleander and hydrangea. The air is perfumed with jasmine in Spring, and fresh-pressed olives in Fall. The rural neighborhood consists of centuries-old stone homes, villas, barns, and walkable stoned-wall streets that invite an invigorating hike up the hill or a leisurely walk to the corner market. There, you'll find local residents stopping in for fresh bread and necessities before the noon meal. The nearby social center is a gathering spot for an after-dinner stroll, playground and tennis court in the summer months. The area is known for its mountain water streams and several public fountains dot the landscape. It is also known for its production of olive oil and local residents can press their olives at one of two co-ops just up the street; also available for purchase. The rhythm of life is tranquil and follows centuries-old traditions; the setting is magical and quintessential Lucca.
