Description
Want to escape to the unspoilt Irish countryside for riverside walks, a real fire, a 200 year-old local pub within walking distance and a cosy yet spacious home from home? This is the place for you! Dromahair is just 40 minutes' drive from Knock airport, with daily flights to London, Manchester and Glasgow, and 2 and a half hours drive from Dublin or Belfast. Within minutes there are incredible mountain views, great surfing, farmer's markets, Yeats' famous waterfalls and heavenly walks. The space The house is a light-filled retreat from the stresses of modern life. It sits on the edge of a picturesque Irish village, so is very private yet not too remote. The scenery is beautiful, the walks spectacular, and you are in the middle of Yeats Country. The house itself has bright airy rooms and french doors that open on to a huge garden which sweeps down to the river. The house is pet friendly and has great WiFi. There is off street parking for up to three cars. There is a big kitchen which is ideal for dining, and a comfortable living room with sofas in front of an open fire. There are three bedrooms, and three bathrooms. There are the usual amenities including fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer, fast internet and DVD player. There is a large outside table and chairs to match. There is also a BBQ, perfect for outside dining. Our favourite things about the house: The lake walks. The sound of the river flowing. The places of historical interest nearby. The village of Dromahair. The pubs and the craic. There is little public transport in or around Dromahair, so a car is advisable. There is a local taxi service that we can recommend. If you want to surf, hike, cycling, SUP, or simply walk in beautiful woods, this is the place for you. Guest access You will have use of the whole house, bar one bedroom where we store stuff when guests are staying. But three bedrooms and three bathrooms are available to our guests. Other things to note For guests staying from the start of October to end of April, we ask for a contribution towards the heating oil. We seek this particularly if the booking is longer than a week. The amount can be agreed on when booking and will not be exorbitant; just in keeping with the extra usage of the heating system during winter months.
