Bed and breakfast in Gatlinburg
Description
This is our FULL TIME RESIDENCE. We share our home with only one couple or single guest at a time, treating them like long term friends. One, well-behaved, pet is welcome at this Bed & Breakfast. Replete with contemporary rustic furniture and sculpture, our home sits a stone's throw from Roaring Fork Creek just outside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park (GSMNP). An easy walk to Gatlinburg's 'strip' and easy access to the Park puts our guests in an unparalleled and unique situation. The space Unlike many homes at the top of steep, winding hills, we are located across the street from a major stream just below the GSMNP. The sound of cascading water is ever present and soothes our guests to a thorough state of tranquility. We invite you to relax, unwind and enjoy. Our home, even in winter, is accessible by almost every vehicle. All those capable of reaching Gatlinburg can arrive at our home. No four-wheel drive vehicle required. Parking available for only one vehicle. Much of the furniture in the home has been created by yours truly. Examine the exquisite details and craftsmanship. Our line of furnishings has been labeled ‘Contemporary Rustic’. Appropriate for any interior, many are fashioned from solid, virgin timber harvested in the 1920's. No pesky hardware. Mortise and tenon construction is the norm. If you are interested in a piece herein, many are for sale. Our guests receive a preferred status on pricing. We accept commissions from our stock of semi-finished lumbers. Define a space to fill, give us a budget, name a specie of wood and we will provide a sketch to define what could become your newest heirloom. Contact us directly for more information. Guest access The front door opens into a great space downstairs… An eat-in chef quality kitchen is fully appointed and is open to our guests’ use. Coffee maker, blender, microwave and dishwasher makes this a home away from home. At the other end of the first floor, two couches allow for conversation, witnessing a televised sporting event on the large HD television or a quiet interlude of relaxation. Board games are available. Spend some time at the Chess board. We often share this space with guests in order to plan activities. A powder room is available during the revelry, halfway down a short hall. Upstairs, our home has one bedroom available. The master suite, to the right atop the stairs, includes a two-person whirlpool, a king size bed, HD television, exterior door to the porch. The upper porch is the perfect place to enjoy an early morning cup of coffee or nightcap. Artwork and sculpture adorn the home. The landscape has been described as the best in the neighborhood, no matter the season. A well inventoried grocery is just over a mile away, to your right, on the Parkway. As this is our 'permanent residence' you will find many herbs, spices, and condiments. Feel free to use them. We keep them fresh enough for our own use! There is limited amounts of refrigerator and freezer space for your convenience. During your stay THIS LISTING IS FOR A SHARED HOUSE, EXCEPT FOR OUR PRIVATE QUARTER SUITE. Arrangements for breakfast can be made (see menus below). Following a nutritious (and delicious) breakfast, prepare for your adventure in the GSMNP. We are avid hikers, one of us prefers the uphills, one the downhills. Our equipment for outdoor activities are available to guests. We are not guides, but you might want to accompany us on a hike to a secluded spot far from the crowds. Return home after seeing the wonderful sights, shower, and relax while you prepare a supper in our chef's kitchen. We have a few favorite restaurants that we suggest if you choose to dine out. If you desire, a sumptuous dinner can be prepared for sharing. The costs for this, a second meal, would be discussed upon arrival. Our experience as restauranteurs allows you a delectable time away from the rat race. When people ask us, “Where is the best meal in town?,” the response has always been, “158 Roaring Fork Road, when we are there.” As in any resort town, eateries are loud, expensive and rarely culinary gems. Don’t forget the wait in line. Dine at our table… comfortably. Affordable prices for an experience of this caliber would be determined on an individual basis. Contact us for a further discussion of your EXACT needs. Other things to note We keep a list of our favorite hikes in your nightstand drawer. It is best to eat a hearty breakfast, get an early start, take plenty of food and water, and be respectful of bears. If you head for a waterfall, remember they are chilly places - even in the summer. A slow but steady pace is good. Count on 1 to 1.5 miles per hour. The land is not flat around here. Trust us, 4 miles one way here is not equal to four laps around the Mall. Take breaks often. There is always something beautiful to observe. We love the mountain. However, not all guests share our enthusiasm. If you are coming to the Gatlinburg area to avail yourselves of the attractions, rest assured there is not enough time to see them all in one trip. We can help you arrive at some hidden gems.
