Each bedroom offers comfortable pillowtop mattresses and down comforters. Each bedroom offers access to the lower deck. The south bedroom (Asian Room) includes an HD TV with cable. Unless your party has more than 2 people and requires both bedrooms, only one bedroom is reserved during your stay, so your use of the bathroom remains private and is not shared with other guests. Pricing is based on a maximum of 2 guests in a single room and includes the local travelers' occupancy tax. Please note the following: If your party exceeds two people and requires both bedrooms, each bedroom is limited to a maximum of two people. An additional charge is automatically added for guests 3 and 4 (if applicable) to cover overhead costs. Simply select the appropriate guest count, and the charge is automatically calculated. If only two people are staying, but you require use of the second bedroom, an additional one-time charge of $35 is added to cover cleaning and laundry costs. I try to purchase (or grow my own) organic fruits and vegetables when possible, but at the very least, I look for chemical free and non-GMO produce and packaged products. Two dogs are on the premises to greet you. Each is a rescue, and each is about 9-10 years old. * Josie "Wails" is a 90-pound Lab mix. She is very big but very gentle, and is quite the talker. What may sound like a howl is her way of saying hello. * Romeo is a 14-pound Shih Tzu and quite the escape artist. His name was given upon assuming "whereforth art thou" would be a continual query. Cambria is a magical place. It's a wooded area right next to the ocean. Cambria is very rural, so it's quite normal to see wild turkeys, quail, and deer walking around the neighborhood daily. The ocean brings with it the sounds and joys of the sea. Sea otters, dolphins, and seals spend much of their time close to shore, and you can watch pods of whales migrating while standing on the shoreline, or learn about the herds of elephant seals that call this area "home." This house is located at the highest part of town. The area is referred to as "Top of the World." It's the sunniest and warmest of all the microclimates in town. Top of the World is also special because you have great views of both the Santa Lucia mountain range to the east and the ocean to the west. Public transit is offered in town, but it's not likely that you'll use it. A trolley usually runs during the summer months, which is rather sweet and which you may enjoy. The terrain is rather hilly. You can walk across town (literally), but you might prefer taking your car, as there are no sidewalks or streetlights in the residential areas. Cambria offers a quaint boardwark that spans across Fiscalini Ranch and the oceanside. It's a lovely way to spend an hour, take in the beauty, and get in a little cardio action. The boardwark is basically level, so people of all ages should be able to enjoy it. Hearst Castle is only 6 miles north of Cambria and offers tours daily. Just north of San Simeon, you can view the elephant seals that migrate here. You can also see the herds of zebra that live nearby and now consider the grounds of Hearst Castle their home. (I still scream like a child every time I see them.) If you're into wine tasting, you can do some tasting right in town, or drive east 20 minutes to experience some of the best wines on the central coast. A drive up and down Hwy 1 offers state parks and national forests where you can enjoy hiking, sightseeing, and great food.
