Enjoy a forest stay and embrace silent tourism - Bowerbird is a rustic timber cottage surrounded by World Heritage Listed Barrington Tops NP and Chichester State Forest. Peaceful, remote with limited internet it is an ideal tech free getaway. The wilderness surrounds us , be relaxed or as active as you like: forest bathe, hike, swim, bike or read. Abundant animal and bird visitors including Bowerbirds, lyrebirds, pademelons, parrots , possums and our curious brush turkeys. The space Bowerbird Cottage is family friendly but also great for couples. Bedroom 1 is downstairs with a queen size bed, the loft has a queen and a single plus a single mattress on the floor can be made up on request. Bathroom has a shower over a spa bath. Shampoo, hand wash , soap, body wash and conditioner are supplied. The kitchen is well equipped with pots, pans, toaster, kettle, coffee plunger, electric frypan , cutlery and crockery. Dishwashing liquid, cloths, teatowel , scourer and wild bird seed are supplied. There is a 4 burner gas cooktop, toaster oven & microwave (note no regular size convection oven ) . There is a reverse cycle A/C in the loungeroom and smaller column oil heaters in bedrooms . Please note : there is NO inside fireplace due to fire risk. In winter beds have electric blankets and winter weight quilts . The kitchen and dining are combined and there’s a large adjoining loungeroom ( unique to this cottage) with plenty of room to spread out. The loungeroom has TV ( with USB port -recommend downloading movies before your stay), DVD player, coffee table with storage of tennis equipment , bookcase with selection of books , games and DVDs. The undercover front verandah overlooks the all weather tennis court, BBQ hut and forest. Parking is underneath the cottage. Guests need to bring all food with them as nearest store is 40 minutes away in Dungog. Guest access Guests have access to the 10 acres of the Rainforest Estate including 4 different BBQ gazebos and tennis court - racquets and balls are in the coffee table cupboard in the cottage for your use. There is also direct access to Barrington Tops National park and Chichester State Forest. A short 2 minute stroll to the Williams River and lovely Crystal Pools swimming hole. On the way you pass the 2 signposted bushwalks, Bluegum Loop and Rocky Crossing. A short drive to State forest camp sites, walking tracks and picnic areas. Further afield to Dungog and Chichester Dam. Other things to note There are no services in the surrounding area and nearest stores are in Dungog , 40 minutes away. Guests need to bring all supplies with them and be fully independent. As we adjoin a National park and are a wildlife refuge no domestic pets are allowed. Due to proximity to the Barrington Tops National Park and Chichester State Forest and the risk from unattended fires there are no campfires or fire pits allowed on site. No inside fireplace due to difficulty maintaining a wood supply and fire risk. Fireplaces are available in nearby forest campsites. Please note, we are NOT an isolated party destination and there are other cottages on the estate so we request respect for neighbours and the wildlife by limiting noise and observing quiet hours , especially outside, between 10pm and 8am. The cabins are duplex in design with a common wall but no shared facilities or entry. The cabin next door to Bowerbird is rarely occupied. No mobile reception on site but can be accessed less than 2km away ( depending on provider) . Internet availability for emergencies only. Basic satellite TV reception but many books , DVDs and games in the cottage. Registration Details Exempt
