Description
Situated on our 170 acre farm “Cambus Glen” near the settlement of Framlingham in South-West Victoria, the Shearers’ Cottage is a fully renovated sheep shearers accommodation. The Scottish name “Cambus Glen” means valley where a twisting river passes - this refers to our 3km of Hopkins River frontage – Scottish because the farm is home to our small fold (or herd) of Highland Cattle. The space The cottage is situated in its own private shady garden, overlooking the rolling green (in winter) and gold (in summer) pastures. Fitted out as a studio apartment, it has a queen sized bed adjoining the living and dining areas. The fully equipped kitchen has a two plate electric hob, small fridge, microwave and small appliances with a gas BBQ outside on the porch. Tea and coffee and some other pantry basics are provided. There is an air conditioner, a wood-burning stove and plenty of blankets for those cold winter evenings. Guests can make a supervised visit to see the cattle, with plenty of great photo opportunities. It is also possible to take a stroll along the river, where koala sightings are guaranteed, but wallabies and, occasionally, platypus can also be spotted. For those wishing to explore the region – we are a 30 minute drive from the rugged South-West Victorian coast. Explore the Shipwreck coast between Port Fairy and Cape Otway – see the rock formations of the Port Campbell National Park and continue for another 30 minutes to Loch Ard Gorge and the 12 Apostles National Park. Visit Warrnambool, the picturesque Koroit and Port Fairy, or enjoy one of the many walking tracks in the area or the Warrnambool to Port Fairy rail trail.
