Weed, with its Stewart Mineral Springs, and Dunsmuir, with its railway, food and galleries, are a short drive away. Mt Shasta City is also a perfect jumping off point for Mt Shasta Ski Park, Lava Beds National Monument, McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park, Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuges and Modoc National Forest. A car would be necessary to go up the Mt shasta mountain to the lakes and waterfalls.
