The apartment is in a fabulous position in the heart of the historic old town, the street is peaceful but just steps away from the vibrant life of the city, with its wonderful restaurants and shops. The harbour and sea promenade are just a minute away along with the gorgeous white sandy beaches. With our guests comfort and enjoyment our priority, the apartment is fully equipped to a high standard and decorated with an individual welcoming style,to feel like home and ensure you have a comfortable and memorable holiday in the beautiful city of Alghero! The space The apartment is on the first floor of a traditional Alghero townhouse, on a pretty cobbled street in the heart of the atmospheric Old Town, just steps away from it’s wonderful restaurants, cafes and boutique shops, little piazzas and winding historic streets. The beautiful beaches are easily accessible on foot along the promenade, the closest being within a 10 minute walk. The apartment has air conditioning for cooling and heating, and includes linen and towels. It is attractively decorated with local art and hand painted murals. We have just had fibre broadband installed in the apartment ( May 2019) which enables good WiFi connectivity for guests use. The kitchen is fully equipped with a cooker, hob and grill,microwave, toaster, coffee machine kettle, fridge/freezer and a washing machine and an outside drying line. There is a full set of crockery and dishes to enable you to eat in if you wish, with a table and chairs by the window, perfect for watching life go by!. The apartment has a large bedroom with a comfortable king size bed and ample hanging and drawer space. A cot with linen is also available for little ones along with a highchair. The spacious living room has a large double sofa bed and a comfortable dining table with a wall mounted flat screen television and dvd player. The bathroom is modern with a shower, toilet and sink with an illuminated mirror There is a hairdryer, iron, Ironing board, and radio along with a beach umbrella, beach tent,beach toys and a picnic cool bag and cool blocks available for guests use. Beach towels are available at an extra cost if you require them. There is also a selection of books and dvds, some playing cards and a games compendium. Supermarkets are a just a 5 minute walk from the apartment, there is a wheelie shopping trolley available for your use to carry groceries back with ease! There is a space at the entrance to the house at the bottom of the stairs to leave a folded up stroller/ pushchair. There is a guest book in the apartment with invaluable information, hints and tips for your holiday from previous guests along with a detailed information file ,maps and tourist information. The apartment is ideally situated to see all the sights, the old town is mainly pedestrianised with limited traffic access, allowing ease to walk around comfortably. A car is not necessary as everything is easily accessible on foot along with a good public transport service if you choose to go further afield. If you do have a car, parking is available in a large public car park with free spaces, just a 5 minute walk from the house. There is a bakery at the end of the street, perfect for croissants and delicious bread for breakfast! There is a fantastic selection of restaraunts cafes and shops a few steps away including a great pizza takeaway just around the corner. The sea promenade around the old city walls is just a stroll away with beautiful views of the harbour and yachts, with the mountains in the distance. Alghero is a wonderful destination , from a summer holiday to a break in the winter, it has much to offer all year round. The old town has a wonderful atmosphere and comes to life in the evening. The harbour has many boat excursions, including a trip to the beautiful Neptunes Grotto caves.There is a horse and carriage ride around the cobbled streets taking in the historical sights. During the summer months there is an open top bus which takes you on a scenic drive to Capo Caccia with outstanding coastal views. There are many historic buildings to see including the theatre and the cathedral, enjoy a stroll around the atmospheric cobbled streets where you can discover little piazzas and inviting cafes and gelateries along the way, a truly magical experience. There are many shops from boutiques to local craft and jewellery shops, there really is something for everyone. There are also many places to hire bicycles with cycle lanes along the promenade. There is a great tourist office in Alghero which is worth a visit to find out about local events, of which there are many year round, from concerts to parades there is always something happening! There is a daily fish market and a fruit and vegetable market which are interesting to visit along with a great weekly market which has fantastic food stalls and clothes ,shoes and household items. You will be welcomed personally by our friend who has great local knowledge on your arrival and offered help with any queries you may have during your stay. Guest access You will have access to the whole private apartment which is on the first floor up one flight of stairs , pictured on the photographs, in a typical historical building in the heart of the old town. The entrance door on the street has a double door which can be unlatched to allow wider access for luggage etc.There is a shared space at the bottom of the stairs to leave a pushchair, if it is not already taken. Other things to note Alghero city collects a tourist tax of 50 cents per person per night over the age of 12 years old ,up to a maximum of 7 nights, we kindly ask that this is paid on your arrival. There is parking within a five minute walk from the house in a large public car park opposite the harbour along with other car parks and street parking outside of the Old town but within easy reach of the house. The old town is mainly pedestrianised with limited traffic access. We do not advise you drive within the Old Town unless you are sure of the traffic restriction times.
