Chateau Haute Germain

An outstanding historic holiday rental in the rural heart of the Cote D’Azur, this beautifully restored château with parts originating from the 17th century offers a wonderfully welcoming and truly unique stay for up to 12/14 people. Set in 60 hectares of private grounds, it is situated just 35 minutes from the Mediterranean beaches of Nice and its international airport and 1 hour 40 minutes from the ski resort Isola 2000. The space From the Entrance Hall, double doors lead to the main Salon and through to the wood-panelled Library and its corner Wet Bar. Both the Salon and Library have French doors which lead out onto the Lavender Lawn. Double doors from the Salon lead to the Dining Room. With its double aspect, this bright Dining Room opens out onto gardens and the shaded Dining Terrace. A large fully-equipped and contemporary Kitchen benefitting from a central island and breakfast bar, a double oven with induction and gas hob, two dishwashers and an American-style fridge-freezer – as well as a cheese and drinks fridge for all those French essentials. Next to the kitchen, is The sitting room has access to the front courtyard and is furnished with comfortable sofas, satellite television, DVD player, sound system and massage chair. On the lower terrace there is a further private lawned garden with a loggia housing La Chasse Bar and dining area with a BBQ by the original chapel. On the upper terrace and to the south of the house, a fully heated circular private saline pool (8m diameter) offers a fabulous sun terrace equipped with loungers and parasols. Guest access From the kitchen, open tread stones stairs lead up to the ‘White’ room, an en-suite bedroom with stunning views east over the Var valley. From the Sitting Room a private corridor leads to the ‘Provençal’ bedroom and bathroom. There are four bedrooms spread out across the first and second floor which are reached via the staircase of the main entrance hall. On the first floor there are 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms with the charming circular en-suite ‘Tower’ bedroom on the second floor. The ‘Oriental’ room (available by separate arrangement and at an additional charge) is a double bedroom with kitchen and bathroom suite. It is part of the main house but not accessible from within the château; it has its own front door situated in the lower gravel terrace and accessed by steps from the front courtyard. Other things to note Sitting in its own extensive estate, Château Haute Germaine is a large and wonderfully secluded property with breathtaking views from every aspect – from the Var Valley towards Nice and the Mediterranean in the South, across the valley and to the surrounding mountains in the North. In the local village of Le Broc (5km down a single track mountain road), you’ll find various amenities including a bakery, small delicatessen, a bar and restaurants. The main shopping area, however, is located on the eastern bank and valley floor of the Var, approximately 25 minutes drive back towards Nice. There is also an Intermarché, a slightly closer and smaller supermarket (with a very good fresh fish stand!) situated at the roundabout at the Pont de la Manda (bridge). Because of the somewhat remote location of Château Haute Germaine, we do suggest that guests arrange their own transport to best enjoy their stay. We also suggest that some or all provisions are purchased en route to the Château.
