Description

Follow on the gram at treehauschalet Treehaus Chalet is a midcentury cabin with breathtaking views of Bear Mountain, elevated on a hillside in the desirable Moonridge neighborhood. The home is ideal for a couple or a small family and features: * panoramic views * 2 bedrooms / 2 baths / 1000sf * 4-person hot tub * stone fireplace * modern kitchen * foosball, swing, hammock, games * max 4 adults + 2 cars * pet friendly (2 dogs ok) * walk to Alpine Zoo * within 10 mins of all major attractions The space THE EXPERIENCE Treehaus Chalet is a renovated 1960s chalet soaring on a hillside overlooking the valley, with unobstructed views of the resort's highest peaks. Enjoy swinging under the shade of a giant ancient Juniper tree in the backyard. We’ve styled the interior space to create a warm and friendly vibe by blending vintage and playful alpine decor with some modern updates. Enjoy extraordinary panoramic views of the mountains and tree tops from every room in this 1000 sf space. The open floor plan upstairs, large windows, and vaulted beam ceilings bring nature indoors. Throw a log in the stone fireplace, stare out at the incredible views, and create lasting memories. At night, star gazing from the deck will take you away. Enjoy cooking in the modern kitchen or do some grilling on the deck while taking in the fresh mountain air! DOWNSTAIRS: Enter the cabin on the lower level between two small bedrooms, which stay cozy and warm due to central heating. Both bedrooms each have a plush queen mattress on a log frame bed with down pillows, down comforter with cotton duvet, and wool blanket. One bedroom also has a hidden workspace with desk and chair for those needing some privacy to work remotely. There is one jack-and-jill bathroom downstairs that is shared between (and accessed from) the two bedrooms. The bathroom layout places the sink and shower in one compartment and the toilet and laundry in another compartment, with a pocket door separating the two areas of the bathroom to add some privacy. UPSTAIRS: Upstairs you’ll find the living areas under our high ceilings. The dining table overlooks the view and was hand-made by us out of solid hickory. Two benches and two eames-style chairs will seat all of you when dining in, and can also be used as a workspace with a view. There is a large sectional sofa in the living room that will comfortably seat all of you when you binge-watch Netflix on a snow day. The sofa unfolds into a queen bed in a pinch. At night, the furnace heats the downstairs rooms more effectively than upstairs, so if you’re sleeping on the sofa upstairs then be prepared to pile on the blankets - we have plenty to keep you cozy. There is also a full bathroom with tub located next to the living room. AMENITIES: A flatscreen 4K Roku Smart TV in living room with BluRay player, bluetooth soundbar, and subwoofer will provide endless entertainment and streaming content on Netflix, Hulu, Max etc. The kitchen is fully stocked with cookingware and utensils, and we've got a propane grill on deck overlooking the view. Other features include crockpot, blender, microwave, dishwasher, and washer/dryer. You like games? We have a foosball table, playing cards, puzzles, and board games including Apples to Apples, Sequence, Scrabble, and Jenga. Out back we have a hot tub, hammock, swing, string lights, and seating for hanging out in the shade of our giant tree. Please note we do not have air conditioning - you won’t find AC in typical 1960s mountain cabins and it’s rarely hot enough. For warmer summer days, you can open windows to take advantage of the natural cross breezes from our hilltop, augmented by our 3 portable fans. DOG-FRIENDLY: Your well-behaved and house-trained pooch is welcome with a $40 one-time pet fee (2 dogs max). The front deck is a great perch for Fido to overlook the neighborhood and watch the birds and squirrels, but be advised the back yard is not fenced and the neighborhood is visited by coyotes. Pets are family and should stick with you at all times during your stay so you can experience the joys of mountain life together. Please don’t leave your pet unattended inside or outside unless you’re bringing a crate. PARKING: Most visitors have no issues with our steep uphill driveway, but a select few find it challenging to park. Our driveway is somewhat narrow with a steep approach, which is not ideal for oversized vehicles or those with limited experience with inclines. 4WD/AWD is ideal and recommended in winter conditions. We can accommodate 2 cars parked in tandem. For reference, 9’ total width between concrete wall and railing make it a tight fit for vehicles over 74” in width to maneuver and unload. One vehicle can park at the bottom of the driveway in a pinch, but it’s not flat and is a steep walk up with your luggage. Guest access Guests will have full access to the entire home and its contents. Other things to note The Treehaus Chalet is a registered private home rental, inspected annually for your safety, and operating with a business license issued by the City of Big Bear Lake. The cost of your stay will include a mandatory 13% occupancy tax (10% TOT+ 3% TBID). Snow removal from driveway is arranged before check-in time, but guests may need to shovel their parking spot if they arrive late after it's been snowing or if it snows during their stay. But don't worry, it's part of the mountain experience and multiple shovels are provided so everyone can pitch in! Please note, street parking is strictly prohibited in winter. Chain requirements may also be in effect if it snows. All guests booking a stay in winter should anticipate the possibility of tire chains being necessary to travel to Big Bear, and should check the weather forecast and road conditions before heading up. Since the property is unfenced and sometimes vacant, we have 2 exterior security cameras monitoring the front and back doors of the house. However, we take the privacy of our guests very seriously. Interior areas and upstairs deck are 100% private, and we don't monitor the cameras after guests arrive. If you have any concerns, please contact us and we're happy to discuss.
