Our Bungalow, built circa 1940,is in Madukakunnu Estate, a working plantation in the foothills of the Western Ghats. In the farm which is certified organic, vanilla, pepper, nutmeg, chilly, papaya, pineapple, banana, rubber, a host of fruits, vegetables, herbs and medicinal plants are grown. Estate Bungalow has five spacious bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, one of which is in a Keralan Tharavad House. Guests will experience a homestead farm and regale in the stories of the home and the farm. The space Our house which covers an area of about 8000 sq.ft. (800 sq.m) has five spacious well ventilated bedrooms (non air-conditioned) with en-suite bathrooms. Verandahs, living rooms and family rooms abound. The books and magazines in the library have been collected over the decades. The kitchen which once used to feed the large family and ever-present guests continues to use the old wood-burning stove though the modern gas stove has also been introduced. You can expect to dine just the way the family used to. Estate Bungalow is the ancestral house of the Dominic family. Your hosts now are Anita and Jose Dominic. We have retained the name Estate Bungalow for the Madukkakunnu Farm House. How long should you stay? If you are touring around to discover for yourself the different experiences of Kerala, we would suggest at least two nights stay, though an additional night would give you the time to savour the spirit of the bungalow and farm. On the other hand staying put here for a week or more could be delightful. You could be by yourself or with company. Children are welcome. Guest access Guest can access to the booked Two separate Double rooms on the first floor of our Bungalow, Living/Dinging room, open sit out and its surroundings. During your stay Your hosts now are Anita and Jose Dominic. We will be available throughout your stay. There will, of course, be the farm manager and the bungalow caretaker, who is well versed in the kitchen to care of you. Other things to note There is much that can be done in the farm and the neighbourhood is rich in interesting sights and experiences for day excursions. But best of all would be to allow the spirit of the bungalow to take you into its womb just as generations of its occupants have been. Guests will therefore, invariably, have the farm to themselves to explore around or retreat into. There will, of course, be the farm manager and the bungalow caretaker, who is well versed in the kitchen to care of you. Naturally, the cuisine at the Bungalow would be Kerala cuisine. We also offer lunch for couples and small groups to have the experience of a homestead farm. How long should you stay?
