Description
We are so excited about our conversion. Completely self-contained, it is a lovely, light, cosy open space with a well equipped kitchen, modern bathroom and a cool sleeping platform/mezzanine. Piddlehinton is a special place, 20 mins from the Jurassic Coast and 10 mins from Dorchester, in the renowned Piddle Valley, with beautiful walks, views and our award winning pub, The Thimble Inn. We are right next door if you need anything, but if you prefer your privacy, you can be totally separate. The space This modern, airy, self contained living space has been lovingly converted by us, and we are so proud to have had the help of our many wonderful local friends, tradesmen and artisans! There is a a comfortable double bed upstairs on the mezzanine, with divan drawers for storage and space for luggage. All linen is provided, including towels. Two wall heaters are plenty to keep you toasty, but if you want to get down and rustic, there is a brand new, fully tested and CO2 alarmed wood burner called Lydia! In the winter months, a starter pack of logs, kindling and firelighters will be provided free of charge, but if you want to use the wood burner extensively, please bring your own logs 🔥 Hot water on tap... The modern bathroom has a lovely, Mira electric shower, a heated towel rail. There is a small room off it, with extra shelving and hanging space (handy for longer stays), ironing board, drippy and a washing machine. The fully equipped kitchen comes complete with a dishwasher, cooker/hob, kettle, toaster and microwave as well as a small fridge freezer. If you need more freezer space, we have a chest freezer in our garage that you are more than welcome to use. All the basic kitchen bits and bobs, such as crockery, china, saucepans are provided for your use, but if you wish to be away from the kitchen, and prefer to eat out, there are so many good places to eat nearby, you'll be spoilt for choice! You have your own entrance, via a side gate, with a covered porch which provides a boot rack for the walkers amongst you, and this also leads to your own private outside garden area. A small sun trap – perfect for an early morning cup of coffee, or an evening cocktail! Guest access The whole space (plus small outside area) Other things to note We do have a sofa bed in the living room area, which we, of course, are happy for guests to use. If you need linen for the sofa, I’m afraid we will have to charge an additional fee for this. Please let us know when booking if you need the sofa bed x While converting the space into a residence, we were aware from the outset that, while downstairs has a beautiful open feel, our bedroom area became more of a sleeping platform than we had planned..It more than holds our double bed, but it HAS got a limited headroom and this must be noted. The apex is above the bed, so you are able to sit up and read in the bed comfortably , but you will have to duck while moving around up there! Although there is a glass barrier across the bedroom balcony, we have sadly decided to make the decision not to have any children over 6 months old in The Yorkshireman - we would hate for parents to be worried about the balcony, and, having had an “explorer” myself, I remember the joys of his many adventures! Although mostly a quiet and picturesque village, The Yorkshireman IS on the valley road - the B3143, and you will be aware of road noise from local and farm traffic at certain points in the day. It is almost completely quiet throughout the night hours, but be aware that it is the main route into Dorchester for businesses and most valley residents. The road has a 30 mph speed limit, and is narrow in parts. Our children sleep on the road side of the house and have never had any issues with it. Unfortunately, due to an issue with our electricity provider, we are unable to offer any EV car charging.
