The apartment is located in the lovely city of Benabbio ( 10 min from Bagni di Lucca ). Leaving the car in one of the free parking lots, It’s possible to reach it in 5 minutes by foot using a typical old pedestrian street that will immerse you in the charateristics of this place: Quiet, close to nature and with an exceptional view on the Valle della Lima’s mountains and the Santa Maria Assunta’s bell tower. If you’re looking for a place to get away from stress and regenerate , this is the one. The space The apartment is easy recognizable with It’s big door that will take you to the courtyard, from which you have access to the building upstairs. The apartment, very big and recently renewed, used to be the city’s nunnery in the XVI century and it’s deliberately maintained with rustic furnishings and elements dating back to past generations to be projected into another era but still maintaining all the comforts. The house can accomodate up to 9 people, has 3 double bedrooms (one with added bunk bed and another with an additional single bed), sheets and blankets are provided; the kitchen is fully equipped and enriched with a large fireplace (not usable for safety reasons), the lining room/dining room is the largest space of the house and It’s possible to eat also in the terrace where you have a beautiful view of the surrounding valleys. The terrace i salso equipped with a washing machine and a grill. The bathroom is equipped with a shower, wi-fi is not available but if you need access to internet it’s possible to reach in 5 minutes by foot the restaurant “Acquolina in Bocca “ where they provide it. The house has also a children’s bed and a high chair for babies. Outside, at 20 m from the arch entrance, there is a private garden furnished with gazebo, table, chairs and a barbecue. If you have a car it’s possible to reach us by exiting from the highway exit of "Chiesina Uzzanese” for people coming from Florence and by following the “Strada Statale 12” for people coming from Pisa or Lucca. Interactions with ours hosts We are available to interact with our hosts by phone and in person to give advises regarding the use of the apartment and the surrounding area Activities and Surroundings The chestnut and oak woods, going up the street behind the apartment, allows you to walk several footpaths and be in close contact with the local flora and fauna. The variety of flora makes the territory a paradise for botanists. The fauna is typical of the Tuscan Apennines; The town of Benabbio is walkable and it’s called the “hidden town”. As you enter the village we find Piazza Santa Maria where stands the parish church of Santa Maria Assunta built in 1338. Among the beauties and peculiarities of Benabbio we find a theater built at the end of the 19th century, reflecting the passion of the inhabitants for the art of acting and for the music. The ruins of the Castle of Benabbio of the powerful Lupari family of the XIII century, together with those of Lucchio and Casoli, located in the upper part of the town, are the most important of the Val di Lima; Suspended bridge: a 15-minute drive takes you to the suspended bridge over the Lima Torrent, known for its beautiful natural wells where the bravest can swim in cold, crystal-clear water, free of pollution, or go fishing ; Canyon Park: 18 minutes away by car, it is possible to reach the canyon park where there is the possibility to go rafting, rowing and zip-lines. Vagli Park: Surrounded by the evocative landscape of the Apuan Alps, Vagli Park offers an unforgettable experience to anybody looking for fun, adventure and relaxation, anybody who wants to spend some time in contact with nature or to discover new fascinating places, like the old medieval villages, the lake and the submerged town that lies in its depths, the spectacular suspended rope bridge, and much more. Short transfers with public transports or by car lead to suggestive places like Pratofiorito with it’s 1,297 meters, L'alberata, L'alpe di Limano, La penna di Lucchio and the Orrido di Botri natural reserve, the latter, an hour's drive, is a spectacular limestone gorge on the slopes of the Rondinaio and Tre Potenze mountains with steep walls dug deep from the cold waters of the Mariana and Ribellino torrents; Possibility of quad excursions and two-seater paragliding flight; Bagni di Lucca is a city full of history, just a 5-minute drive away. Its thermal waters, with 15 different types of water and 2 natural steam caves, are unrivaled against all metabolic, arthrostic and respiratory diseases. The medieval architecture of the territory, is made particular by monuments such as the Anglican Church, the circle of foreigners and the Devil's Bridge; For sport lovers or to simply relax, there a soccer field, a dancing bar la Lucciola and the three swimming pools of Villa Ada Nuova Atomica; Through the road that leads to Benabbio you can reach Collodi in half an hour by car, known for the Pinocchio Park and the beautiful Residenza Goldoni, and the Valleriana, the journey time is about 10 minutes; In the surrounding area very interesting and easily accessible by car are: The city of Lucca, beautiful to visit for its historical magnitude (one of the few to have no influence from the famous Medici family), the Garfagnana, Barga, the Grotta del Vento: here the atmospheric agents incessantly dig, sculpt and shape the limestone rocks, giving rise to majestic natural sculptures, ranging from stalactites and stalagmites alive and bright, to ponds, mud formations and perfectly vertical wells that can be visited with comfortable paths; the Alpi Apuane and the Abetone ski area; In about one hour drive it’s easy to reach the cities of Viareggio, Pistoia, Prato, Firenze and Pisa.
