Peaceful Portage Park Apartment

You have the entire apartment all to yourself (kitchen, bathroom, 2 bedrooms and an office). Shared backyard. Portage park is located about halfway between O’hare airport and downtown. It is one of the safest neighborhoods in Chicago. Parking is easy! We’re 2 blocks away from a park (dog park, playground, walking/running path, tennis courts, indoor and Olympic sized outdoor pool). Fairly close to coffee shops and good places to eat We are family friendly House trained dogs are ok : $10/night The space We think you’ll enjoy the decor and pleasant lighting.. the apartment gets great sun and has central heat and AC. You’ll always get a spot on the block, usually right out front. The street is all single family homes and people use their garages. Update* For some reason some neighbors arranged for permit parking with the city. Parking is $1/day per car. Please ask us for stickers if you will have a vehicle! So now, parking is even easier I guess :). 99% chance You’ll have a spot right out front. If not, a few steps away. We have plenty of kitchen tools and and dishes on hand... if you need anything random there is a dollar store at the end of the block, and we live downstairs should anything else come up-we are happy to share anything we’re not using at the moment House trained safe dogs are welcome per our house rules (no dogs in bed or on sofa). Please ask first. We charge per dog like an extra person. We may offer discounts off-season on a case by case basis. We have a lot of plants and some special decor. Due to past experience, cats are a general no. Indoor and Olympic sized outdoor pool at the nearby park (certain summer dates). Dog park, playground, running paths, soccer courts, and 4 tennis courts are available. There are at least 2 great cafes nearby as well as a tea shop. There are several affordable restaurants within walking distance. If you are looking for Chicago style pizza, there is giordanos close to us. If you’d like a fancier place for a date, a little further but still walkable is “community “ and “eris”, a new brewery /restaurant in an old bank building. There is a highly rated italian restaurant 2 blocks away. We are close to rehearsal spaces you can rent by the hour if you are a musician. You can walk to a used music instrument shop that’s the best kept secret among Chicago bands. Guests with kids: we have toys and books on hand for babies and small children, a pack n play., and a stokke high chair. Please request these in advance. We have an 8 yr old son and are up for a play date and/or loaning out add’l quality toys and books so you don’t have to travel with that stuff. Unlike more congested areas, You won’t be wandering around looking for parking with kids in tow as parking is easy and you usually get a spot right out front. The Irving Park bus will take you to the blue line as well as the metra. The blue line goes to the airport (northwest), and Logan square, wicker park, and downtown (south east). You may also take the central bus to hit another stop on the blue line going towards o’hare or downtown. If you like to walk, it’s about a 22 minute walk to the closest blue line or metra train. Guest access You have the whole unit to yourself. Kitchen, bathroom, 2 bedrooms and an office with 2 locked entrances . The office can serve as a 3rd bedroom if you request an air mattress ($30 flat fee for extra bed + laundry) We live below. Street parking is readily available right out front Other things to note The apartment is on the 2nd (top) floor. It gets plenty of light. Sadly the space is not wheelchair accessible. There is one flight of stairs to get to your unit. The steps are somewhat narrow and a little steep. Sensitive or health minded guests: Everything is cleaned with non-toxic eco products. We don’t use any scented detergents or air fresheners. We open windows between guests just to get fresh air in the space. Even our antibacterial cleaners are plant based (oregano oil is the disinfecting ingredient). Nellie’s unscented detergent is used on towels and sheets. All bedding and towels are 100% cotton. We use down pillows so if you are allergic to down let us know in advance and we can swap with down alternative pillows. 1/5 of our guests may bring a dog. We spend an extra hour cleaning after pets. We do not allow cats. We change filters on the hvac regularly. We may leave one scented soy candle out for any guests who may like to use it. Nothing harsh that will last to the next booking. Parents: The windows are high so safer for toddlers. Please remind us before your arrival if you are traveling with children so that we may get it ready for kids. Please check the safety for yourself based on your child’s age when you arrive and use your judgment.
