Cottage in Verona

Charming, renovated 1940s cottage on Howes Lake - 25 minutes north of the 401. Main cottage has a large deck and open kitchen/dining/living room with two bedrooms. Access to the 3-piece bath through master bedroom. Bunkie (when booking 5+ guests, extra charge) is bright and open with a double bed and couch but no heat. Water is great for swimming, fishing & boating. Three stand up paddle boards are provided seasonally. Only 3km from Verona with LCBO/Beer/ Grocery store etc. No wifi, no pets. The space The open concept kitchen / dining room / living room make this a great spot to catch up with friends and family. The space is little, about 500 square feet, but the coastal, modern décor and many windows make it feel open and airy. The cottage is ideal for four guest, but the bunkie (avail May-mid Oct), provides an extra space sleep two more guests and additional hang out space. If your group is 4 or less, you will get the main cottage. For groups of 5 or 6, the bunkie will be prepared and extra towels provided. An additional nightly fee will be charged. Enjoy dinner on the large deck that hangs out over the lake. It has a table and seating for 6. There is an outdoor kitchen with propane BBQ, mini fridge & large counter top for serving food. If you empty a tank, please let us know so we can refill. At this cottage, you're never more than a few steps from the water! There is a beautiful fire pit area with water views. You will also love the big sweet dock which is perfect for relaxing, fishing and swimming. Diving board use is at your own risk. Fishing equipment is not provided. One bedroom has a set of bunk beds with a double on the bottom and single on top. The second bedroom has a double bed and a TV with built-in DVD player. The bathroom is accessed through this second bedroom but there is a privacy curtain beside the bed. There is no wifi at the cottage. There is fresh delicious well water so no need for water bottles. The cottage has a holding tank which needs to be pumped out periodically so please conserve water where possible. This is a true 1940s cottage so the bathroom was a later addition. It has a full sized shower, flush toilet and sink, but is small and accessed through one of the bedrooms in the main cottage. The bunkie is rustic building that is separate from the cottage, approximately 100 feet away. It's a large open space measuring 20' by 12' with several windows. It has a double bed and a sitting area with beautiful views of the lake. The bunkie is not insulated and there is no heat source so it may be chilly on spring or autumn nights. The bunkie is available (for an additional fee) for bookings of more than 4 guests. If you are booking past October 15st, your booking will only include the main cottage with sleeping for 5. Guest access There is a key pad on the cottage door and we will provide you the code 24 hours before your arrival. You will have full access to the cottage, main dock (the additional dock beside boat house is private- do not access), and grounds during your stay. We provide three Stand Up Paddle Boards (SUPs) and paddles. Please bring life jackets if needed. Other things to note There is no laundry on-site. Please use the same bed for your entire stay. There is no wifi. Sorry no pets. We do all of the cleanings ourselves and find that it takes longer than a full day to remove all pet hair, paw prints and nose marks from windows. Garbage must be tagged (provided) and removed at the end of your stay. It can be placed in the bins at the entrance to the lake road. The garbage bin code is provide at the cottage. There is a public boat launch on Verona lake which connects to Howes Lake. If you have your own boat, you are welcome to tie up at our dock during your stay. This is a perfectly level spot so those with mobility issues can easily get from their car into the cottage without going up or down any stairs. Getting to the dock and the water's edge does require some stairs.
