THE STUDIO APARTMENT, Lickbarrow Lodge, Windermere
Description
The Studio is a small self-contained ground-floor studio-apartment (max 5.9 m/19.3 ft x 5.7 m/18.8 ft), part of our "Arts and Crafts"-era home, furnished and decorated to reflect that unique period (please see "The space" below). We are located on a quiet country lane just 1 mile/1.5 Km from Windermere and Bowness villages in the Lake District National Park. Free private parking for two cars. Please note - 3-night minimum stay during the summer holiday period - late July and all of August. The space The Studio is fitted with an enclosed Ikea mini-kitchen with two-ring cooking-hob, combination oven/microwave, sink, small fridge with freezer compartment and is well equipped with electric kettle, toaster, crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, dining table and chairs, settee, standard-sized double bed, bed-linen, towels, iron, hair-drier. Shower-room with multi-jet shower, W.C. and handbasin (but no bath!). WiFi, maps, guide-books, route-cards for walks (some from the doorstep) and tours. Private entrance with outside patio and garden furniture. Superb mountain views from our garden and from nearby viewpoints (though not from the apartment). We are only just outside the twin villages of Windermere and Bowness, both within walking distance along a quiet lane or a lovely walk through the meadows along the Dales Way. There are no street-lights and no light-pollution so we enjoy fabulous mountain sunsets and night skies. Guest access You'll have exclusive use of the Studio apartment and its small courtyard with garden furniture. Access to our large private garden and natural woodland with hidden paths and secluded clearings. Lickbarrow Lodge is about 20 minutes drive from M6 J36. Plenty of private parking space. If travelling by train, the journey from London (Euston) to Windermere Station can take just three and a half hours, including a change of trains at Oxenholme-The Lake District (or sometimes at Lancaster). If arriving at Windermere Station and you have luggage, it's best to take a taxi to Lickbarrow Lodge (5 minutes by car). Other things to note If driving from south, leave M6 at J36 and follow A591. From the north, the quickest route is usually from M6 J40, then briefly westwards on A66, then A592 via Ullswater to Windermere. If you use GPS, input ONLY our Postcode - LA23 2NQ .
