Reopening in May 2024! :D Located in the heart of Historic Twin Lakes Village (pop. 171) and the foot of Mt Elbert, this Crib house is a comfy, clean little space perfect for one! The covered front porch faces Twin Peaks and Mt Hope. Whether you decide to partake in one of the area's adventures (or just soak in the quiet beauty) stargazing + a cool mountain breeze await. Lake County Rental License #2023-123 Located in the heart of Historic Twin Lakes Village (pop. 171) and foot of Mt. Elbert, this little space is a true "wild-west" structure dating from the 1800s. This cabin has its own front porch facing the upper lake, Mt Hope, and Twin Peaks. We gladly provide you with your own off-street parking spot. This Crib house has an interesting back story: it was won in a card game in Leadville in the mid-1900s, and was then the winner (the owner of this property at the time) hauled it to Twin Lakes. Originally, a western "Crib house" was attached to a larger Brothel that had a shared space including a kitchen and other necessary amenities for people working there. This particular cabin is updated and it's special in that it now provides all the amenities a person would need in its own tiny space (see below) plus an old "west vibe" (with an antique crystal chandelier, mirrors, and fun oil painting to boot)! Kitchen: Gas range and oven, copper kitchen sink, granite countertops (with space to prep dinner), half fridge and freezer perfect for one (see pics). All stainless pots and pans, toaster, coffee maker, and pretty much any utensil you'd need to create a delicious meal! We also provide you with your own grilling utensils to use with a charcoal grill located on the patio. Dining: A handmade, sturdy, collapsible oak dining table large enough for two, with a wooden chair to match - tucked away but easily accessible. When the table is collapsed, you have more than enough floor space for even the most complex yoga poses! .75 Bath: Small shower for one (with hot water, of course!), toilet, copper bathroom sink, and lots of shelving for your belongings! Sleeping area: An extra-long memory foam/coil hybrid mattress sits on a solid wood day trundle bed (big enough for lots of clothes and other belongings). The mattress and pillows are first zipped in to antimicrobial covers, then outfitted with crisp white 100% pima cotton sheets, then topped with blankets and comforter! Super comfy. Storage: additional cabinets and drawers are in the cabin to help keep your belongings organized! Hangin' out + auxiliary: The XL twin solid wood day bed doubles as a sofa! It has a very supportive back and sides, then outfitted with lots of pillows so you can sit up comfortably to read, or stream tv/movies on the 24" flat screen tv with Roku! Dogs: PLEASE let us know if you are bringing a dog with you :D WE ALLOW ONE DOG AND ONE HUMAN, TOTAL. Please message us with any questions about any of the above information! :D You have sole access to your entire cabin and covered deck, plus one reserved off-street parking spot. We respect guests' privacy as we like ours to be respected when on vacation :) you may see us around on the property doing work, but you likely will not. We will not approach the cabin while you're renting unless you request help, or if there is an emergency. We are always available via Airbnb, there is a lockbox so guests can retrieve/return a key with a personalized code when they check in & out. Guests will be greeted by a lit cabin should you arrive at night, just let us know! This cabin is located at the foot of Mt Elbert, in the quaint village of Historic Twin Lakes, Colorado. Our town's population is just 171 people! It retains the laid back and relaxed feel of Old Colorado, which is why we love it! Our neighbors are very quiet and respectful, and many vacationers have been visiting Twin Lakes for years to relax and soak in the beauty. Your cabin is your own private space but it is not secluded. This little cabin is one of 2 on a property in a village, the cabins are staggered with windows and do not face each other. We also have neighbors. You have your own deck. You will need a vehicle to get to Twin Lakes, but once here, walking around is easy, and locals are devoted to keeping Historic Twin Lakes as pedestrian-friendly as possible. The lakes are very close by: walkable or drivable, depending on where you want to hang out! Some hiking trails are literally steps from our property (a trail to Mt. Elbert is just outside our door, and the Willis Gulch trailhead is 2 miles away). The Moache fishing site is a 6-minute walk (.25 miles), and about a mile for a boat tour. Twin Lakes SUP and Cycle is just 2 blocks away, as is the general store where you can purchase equipment for fishing, bait, etc. There is a lot to explore- like a former 19th-century luxury resort across the lake that you can paddle or drive or hike to. There is also a visitors center run by local volunteers, too! If there is something specific you wish to do, please feel free to ask us, we are happy to help. There is a quaint country general store 2 blocks away that offers gas, staple groceries, books, gifts and sundries (there are larger grocery stores etc in other towns nearby, milage is in the "getting around" section)! You will need a vehicle to get to Twin Lakes, and the drive is AMAZINGLY beautiful, so prepare yourself! There is no public transit at this time, so we recommend having a car in case there is a hike or place you want to explore outside of town (...a ghost town, maybe?) Please see "overview" for more local details! If you need more than 1 parking space, then please let us know so we can figure out some options for you. Otherwise, Twin Lakes is: 17 miles from Independence Pass and the Continental Divide 37 miles from Aspen (just over the Pass) 22 miles from Leadville (county seat) 26 miles from Buena Vista 50 (highway) miles from Salida This is not an isolated cabin, please look up "Twin Lakes Village" for a better idea of what the tiny town is like. This town has a population of 171 persons. It's very quiet, and unincorporated so it's pretty rustic, too. If you are looking for seclusion: this is not a space for you. We are in a quiet village. Please see maps. If you're looking for lots of luxury shopping, Vale and Aspen and Breck aren't far, but you won't find any designer stores in this town (but there are swimming holes)! We offer high-speed WiFi that can handle multiple screen activity but it has only been a short time that this has been offered to our town. So far it has been excellent and reliable, however we cannot offer refunds if it goes down as it would be out of our control. However we are happy to help you find places that offer free, excellent WiFi close by for work, games, etc. This cabin is only for one(1) person and one(1) dog. No other pets are allowed unless approved by hosts before guest arrival.
