The Shire

Built into the rock, The Shire cabin is built almost completely of reclaimed materials including cross-laminated timbers, glass and steel. Set in a private little clearing, it is the perfect getaway in the middle of nature. The cabin itself is suspended from above and hangs completely off the ground. The rock wall on which the cabin hangs is exposed on the interior which keeps it cool in the heat of summer. The space The cabin is completely off the grid (no electricity and no water), allowing you relax and take in the nature outside of your floor to ceiling windows.  Herds of deer often walk by early in the morning, and you may even see some big horned mountain sheep. The bathroom is located inside of our house. It is an uphill walk on a slightly rough trail to access our house. The cabin is located on our mountain side property, and offers stunning views down to Penticton. Guest access Guests can access the property 24/7 and will be provided with a gate code. Shared washroom and shower are located in our house. There is no bathroom in the cabin. Guests are only permitted in the entry area and bathroom of the house. No meals are provided. There is coffee and tea available for guests, as well as a BBQ. Mini fridges for guest use are available in the entry are of the main house. There are numerous outdoor areas guests are welcome to enjoy including a day bed, a sand pit with fire pit and outdoor tables. During your stay We love to host and meet people from around the world.  Kate is a stay at home mom and Geoff often works from home.  Kate is a certified yoga instructor and happy to arrange a yoga class during your stay (weather permitting). If we're available, we're happy to answer questions or help you on your journey Other things to note This is a rustic location, and the pathway down to the cabin is not a manicured one. We recommend good footwear be worn when walking from the cabin to the house. Heavy rolling suitcases are not recommended. We will provide guests with a flashlight for traveling the path at night. This is not an accessible location, and is not recommended for people with mobility issues. Please note the wifi does not reach down to the cabin.
