Description
Safe, quiet, pretty town. Walk to easy, peaceful, direct NYC train. Bedroom locks - key is yours. We hope you join our list of repeat guests! Non-smoking, creative/academic household. We care abt the environment. Shared bathroom (it always works out) for 2 guestrooms. Friendly, quiet, comfortable; our “lived-in” house is professionally cleaned before your arrival. Your ground floor rm’s away from upstairs family bedroom. We respect privacy. The space Not a large room-kindof a cool “nest”. New paint, bedding, full-sized platform bed with storage. Your cozy room has a mini-fridge & microwave, kettle, coffeemaker, and faces nice backyard with birds, trees, & a hammock. Room locks from the outside or inside if you want. Separate area of house from upstairs family bedroom, so it can feel like home for you. While our house is not a luxury hotel (you may see music, books, drums --it is "lived in"), people are happy here. We've hosted for many years before Airbnb through immersion programs for teaching English. I’ll help you with your English *if* you want! Housekeeper comes before your arrival. Often more than one bedroom's available. We might be hosting someone else too, but everyone's busy and gone most of the time. Our guests are quiet, considerate, and respect privacy and the need to sleep, as do David and I. Guest access Private room, shared bathroom, in our small but friendly house. Guests sometimes like to eat, make phone calls, or study in our spacious backyard to enjoy the antics of playful squirrels, birds, and guest appearances by a rabbit. (Nice sunsets too!) Guests can walk to our excellent supermarket for great, pre-made deli items and reasonably-priced hot meals by their chef. Rotisserie pre-cooked hot chickens are popular. Lots of take-out places nearby including Smashburger, barbecue, Chinese, & Italian food. *our kitchen is not usually available on a regular basis at the moment - sorry it’s not listed as an amenity for the moment - you can ask if you need it sometimes* 2 full bathrooms, one on each floor, are shared & have locks on the doorknob. We leave the door open when not in use. During your stay My husband and I are both busy professional "creative types". We're (usually!) quiet and gone a lot, as are most of our guests. We're just a text away. I was a licensed tour guide in NYC and we used to live there so we're happy to either give suggestions, or leave you alone. We could bring you to a serene nature preserve walk on beach or forest trails and get in for free if we're available at the same time (or visit our diverse, multi-cultural lively, interesting church if you want). A recent guest from India said "you guys are cool, and you don't seem aged!" If English isn’t your first language, I’m happy to offer spontaneous grammar/phrasal verb/pronunciation help if you ask for it because I’m a certified ESL (English) teacher/local organizer for an international language homestay program. We will do what we can to give you a five-star experience, but we respect the need for privacy and to just chill or work in your room if you want. 😀 Other things to note We have another bedroom listed too--see reviews. It is a serene, cozy space. Nice back yard for you to enjoy. Please read house rules to decide if it’s a good fit for you. We’re a friendly, quiet, busy household in a normally expensive neighborhood. We greatly appreciate our guests. Your room has a lock with a key for you, and we’re vaccinated for Covid.
