Retreat from the demands of daily life beneath majestic redwoods, among healing gardens and surrounding rustic area, with its tranquil atmosphere of silence, relaxation, and comfort, and be filled with peace. The Cottage at Milagro Grande IS: The joy of simple pleasures The casual comfort of feet on the coffee table Coffee in bed while you read one more chapter Scones and orange juice on the deck warmed by morning sun Being startled when a tree frog jumps as you move an outdoor pillow Watching hummingbirds bathe in the fountain and feeling their delight Looking up into the branches of a giant redwood and being awed Strolling through gardens of dazzling color and fragrance Looking into an evening circle fire and feeling its timeless connection Taking home the rejuvenation and healing that comes from slowing down and appreciating the joy of small things Our garden themed cottage offers just the right amount of rustic comfort. There is a queen-size bed fit for a king There is a small galley kitchen with microwave, gas stove, small refrigerator, and basic equipment for light food preparation (after all, you didn’t come to the magnificent north coast to spend time in the kitchen cooking). There is a gas barbeque on your deck for your personal use. There is a full bath. The living area has a full-sized couch which makes into a bed, and a window seat suitable for a child (or an adult who wants to feel like a child). A propane fireplace provides heat and plenty of cozy without tending a fire. Internet is available and reliable. Everything you need for your "simple pleasures” getaway is provided or can be requested. We are conveniently situated a short distance from the seashore just beyond the usual fog line. Downtown Fort Bragg is five minutes away. Come stay with us and let the wonders of the wild north coast soothe and move you, and you will want to return again and again. Three acres of redwood forest trail surrounds your cottage and the main house and garden area. You can visit the chickens and miniature goats in the vegetable garden (and help yourself to "freshly picked" in season). Summer evenings there is a cozy campfire in the center courtyard, for your personal use, where you can pretend you are camping with s'mores the way you like them, and then go snuggle in your comfy bed. You can usually find me somewhere in the garden. I will meet you when you check in, show you how things work, answer your questions, and leave you to your explorations. I am usually not too far away if you need anything. We live at the very end of the road and the last quarter mile is not paved. We are in a typical Mendocino county neighborhood of mixed old and new, large and small, homes. The property is forest and open ranch land on two sides. We are two miles inland from the ocean where Airport Road (there is no airport, which is a long story) meets the surf. We are minutes to our famous Glass Beach, the trestle bridge where Pudding Creek meets the sea, and the miles-long Haul Road, a paved mixed recreation trail along the bluffs with outrageous views of white water surf and sightings of passing whales. We connect with the newly opened section of the Coastal Trail. Bring your bikes, kayaks, and walking shoes. There's nearby surfing. fishing and state park events. We are two miles in from Highway One and another three miles more to town for bagels and coffee and the Sunday paper. There is no public transportation. Price includes 10 percent Mendocino County Transient Occupancy Tax. There is a gate blocking access to the property. We do need to keep it closed except for entering and leaving to keep chicks, goats, and pugs in and deer and things that eat chicks, goats, and pugs (and gardens) out. You will be asked to always stop and make sure the gate is closed when you pass through.
