Stay in a Standford White Mansion 25 mins from downtown Manhattan. Beautiful tree lined block 1.5 blocks from the Q or B Trains. This room is nestled in an 111-year-old Spanish Mission-style mansion built by the famed architect of the American Renaissance, Stanford White. White's affair with "The World's First Supermodel," Evelyn Nesbit, and White's murder by her jealous railroad baron husband led to what became known as "The Trial of The Century." The story of their lurid love triangle was later immortalized in the book and eventual theatrical production and film, Ragtime. The house has just undergone a massive renovation and is being restored to its original grandeur. Bedroom 15' by 13' Massive room in an amazing home. This room faces west and is flooded with light throughout the afternoon. It features a queen-sized bed, 2 closets, and many book shelves. Can come with or without furniture. Bathroom 2 full/1 half Like all other bathroom fixtures throughout the house, the vintage tub, sink and toilet and shower are the same as those used to furnish the Waldorf Astoria in the 1930s when it was re-furnished. Living room Adjacent to this bedroom is the massive, marble-floored living room with cathedral ceiling, crystal chandelier (1 of 2), working fireplace, baby grand piano, and bay window. It also faces west allowing for light all afternoon. Kitchen At 350 sq ft, this is far from the teeny cave most come to expect from a kitchen in NYC. Windows over the sink reach to the ceiling and there is ample counter space, walls and ceiling finished with subway tile, an antique sink, and newly installed dishwasher. Dining Room The 2nd crystal chandelier features prominently along with a marble fireplace, and the formal mahogany table comfortably seats 9. Backyard: Barbecue and picnic table for peaceful morning coffee or fun outside cooking. Glass of wine at sunset. One Dog named Sail a lab mix, and Viva a cat who loves everyone we think she may have been a dog in a past life. There is plenty of train service in this area Q, B are 2 blocks away. The 2, 5 are 7 blocks away Neighborhood: Near many shops and restaurants/bars. 5 Min walk to the B and Q train. A sanctuary in minutes from everywhere. 25 mins to the city. Tree lined streets with islands in the middle of the street beautiful in all seasons.
