Hesed House: Upstairs Bedroom 1 (4 Bedroom Cabin)

Hesed is our family labor of love located at the edge of a gentle cliff in Cherrapunjee, overlooking meadows and streams down below. I homeschool my children , mostly spending our time trekking down, baking, reading and sharing stories by the fireplace. If you are looking for a space to take a pause among our hills, to breathe and to contemplate, Hesed House is for you. The space The house is built on two large step-like rocks on the edge of a cliff, and predominantly walled with local stones. We have kept a big part of the upper rock exposed inside the house, jutting out over the lower level lounge. Floors and ceilings are built with two different kinds of pine wood. The upper level has one bedroom to the side as soon as one enters the main doorway, followed by a big sitting area with a fireplace. Also adjoining this area is the door to a small study and library, right next to the first bedroom. The sitting area flows into a loggia with glass windows on all sides, which also serves as our cafe/breakfast place. One one side we have a small kitchen with a wood-fired brick oven as well as modern stove tops. From one side an iron and wooden staircase leads down to a mid-level bedroom, followed by couple of more steps to the downstairs lounge. Two more bedrooms open into this area. Finally the downstairs lounge opens to a big deck built with a local logs that can withstand the heavy rain of Cherrapunjee. Guest access We do have a kitchen for personal use , and may allow guests to cook for small numbers if requested. Our local caretakers are happy to cook for you at a price (and will also happily learn) if you have anything specific in mind. They do all the cleaning. If you need tea and coffee at anytime, just let them know, and they will make it for you. We don't keep instant coffee at Hesed, but if you prefer those, they will get it. Kindly note that since they use freshly ground coffee beans and some high quality teas, these are billed separately. We usually discourage food service to rooms, and it would be great if you can come to the upstairs loggia/cafe area have your meals. Feel free to use our small study and library at any time, and you may bring books outside to the common spaces of Hesed or to your room. Just don't forget to inform one of the helpers in case you want to do so. All sitting areas, balconies and lounges are accessible to guests. During your stay We occupy one of the bedrooms for a few weeks in July and again in December. But we will always be available on Whatsapp for audio/video calls if needed. Rest of the time our local helpers will take care of all your housekeeping, kitchen and other sundry needs. Saimika Park and Resort ( part of the property) also has two restaurants you can walk or drive up to, and order food from. Other things to note If you are taking more than 2 rooms, I will add discount. Note that other Bedrooms are listed separately in Airbnb as Hesed House Mid-level Bedroom 2, Hesed House Downstairs Bedroom 3 and Hesed House Downstairs Bedroom 4. If you want to book more than one room, you will need to book separately via these listings.
