Located in a small village called Sooranad, in Kollam district of Kerala, this Village Stay has four air-conditioned bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. Offering a captivating village life experience and constructed in the Laurie Becker style this house has exposed bricks, mud tiles on its ceiling and a lot of inter-binding corbel designs. The family resides here, which ensures you are safe, you get to interact & relish home cooked food. Come...experience village life upfront. The space Activities you can partake in include; Cook along with the mother of house and pick up a few Keralan recipes. Visit and shop at the local market where farmers from the neighbourhood get their best produce and sell it at fair price. Visit the largest fresh water lake and bid at the auction and buy fresh seafood catch of the day straight from the local fishermen and get it cooked the way you want at the homestay. Visit a local Cashew Processing Factory and witness the personal care, precision and labour that goes in extracting each cashew kernel. Visit the paddy fields and understand how small womengroups are reviving the paddy cultivation scenario in Kerala. Take a canoe tour at the Munroe Islands, a serene and not so explored destination. Visit the local Church/Temples, take part in the local rituals and understand of the religious practices and of how religion binds people together in rural India. Visit one of our neighbour and understand how in a village the community bonds by itself, or just stroll by the village and experience its people, setting and lifestyle. Visit the Veluthampi Dalawa Memorial museum at Mannadi. This museum is dedicated to Veluthampi, the Prime Minister of the Indian kingdom of Travancore, who is best known as one of the earliest individuals to rebel against the British East India Company in India. Shop at the in-house Spicery; premium spices, home-made masalas, chutneys and pickles, coconut oil, cashews, and some village art too. And when you aren’t doing any of these, do some gardening, spend time with the cattle, poultry and pets or just relax at the patio or entertain yourself in the living room or get on to the Recreation Zone for some Table Tennis or board games or browse the net or just pick up a book and be on your own…remember it’s your own house so just be yourself.
