Welcome to Brooks Maine! I hope you'll enjoy your stay! There are tons of great local attractions. The beach, boutique shopping, antiques, great eats, hiking, kayaking, & wineries . My home is centrally located to Camden, Rockport, and Belfast.Enjoy the grill, fire pit, outdoor dining, and many acres i have Welcome to Maine's Hidden Gem! I hope you'll enjoy it as your own, while visiting Mid-Coast Maine! The house itself is post and beam, with wood floors throughout. It has tons of natural light and the master bedroom features cathedral ceilings with 2 skylights. It's a wonderful place to wake up. The house is near new (less than 5 years), and has never been lived in. I have put a love of love and dedication into making it a great stay for all. However if you have any special requests, please inquire. I will do my best to accommodate and assist your needs. The layout is rather unique and spacious, with 2600sf to move around It has many doors to access the yard. Great for family get togethers and groups. There are four different living spaces for people to have space for quiet, work, kids play area, reading, whatever it may be Larger groups, i ask to contact me for any questions re; the space and its layout. Enjoy the grill, outdoor seating/dining under the pergola, and recently built fire pit. Feel free to enjoy picking berries, veggies, and herbs from the garden-seasonally. Please ask about kayak/paddleboard lessons or rentals, locally. Visiting the Peace Ridge Sanctuary, Apple or other berry picking. Farm fresh taco Friday’s (seasonally), yoga classes, live music events, great family/dog friendly hikes, snowmobiling, boarding, or any other outdoor fun on your list. And please!!!!! If you find a great anything, please share! I was lucky to trip on an incredible lavender farm a few years back. Most of the time the house is occupied, when they’re open (just a small summer window). But it’s such a special and lovely time. I pack a picnic and from Portsmouth head north, for a lovely afternoon of picnicking and picking! The Common Ground Fair is also another great yes! Maine, like this home is a hidden gem. Sometimes you need to dig, sometimes ask, read, or just hop to it’s exploration. Other times it’s just nice to be. Whatever it is, I hope you’re able to enjoy and make wonderful memories worth a lifetime. The seasons are irrelevant. I can boast on all 4. All 4 being so different in experiences. But all 4 being close enough and far enough to allow your stay to be amazing. Please don’t hesitate to ask, inquire about anything pertaining to the house or area! I will do all I can to assist you The house manual has been recently updated, including summer, fall, spring, and winter activities to do in the area. There are tons of games in the house. My newest is Twister (so much fun:-) for adults and kids!! The house is on a town maintained dirt road. I love it. As it really gives separation from many of the roads in Maine, which can be so Main. Yet, you can get to Belfast in less than 15 minutes. Lincolnville is another great coastal town (20 mins),but worth a day on the beach and hitting up our favorite coffee/tea roaster, Green Tree. You'll love it :-) From Lincolnville you can take the ferry out to Isleboro, not to be missed. Camden is also very close. Acadia National Park is a great day trip from us. I love Bar Harbor, but Schoodic Point (on the mainland) is a hidden gem. Perfect for biking, a picnic, kayaking, and collecting beach loot! My home is in a a rural location. It allows you to have fun and feel like your a million miles away, from everything. Yet, you can get to so many beautiful locations, antiquity by, wineries, and dinner out, so easily. I hope you'll enjoy the peace and celebration around you. There are several yoga mats, bolsters, and blocks for your enjoy practice (especially nice down by the stream, just to the right of our driveway. I have a small library upstairs for you to enjoy. And a take one leave one honor system. There's a little nook for the kids, including games, a table, chairs, stuffed animals, color books, a chalkboard, and a couple little toys. Please contact me with any additional questions or concerns. 8/14/17 Please note my home has 2 video cameras located in the breezeway, outside to both ensure the safety of our guests as well as home. The house also has a maintained home security system. You will find motion sensors around the house. I also have a thermostat sensor in the basement. That ensures they will call the furnace company if there is an emergency/or the temp ever drops to freezing, or any potential problems. I do my very best to maintain the house. And while the home is checked thoroughly after each and every visit. I am human and may miss something. I ask and invite all guests to have a look around the house. And please let us know immediately if you spot any damage. As it will promptly be repaired (if needed) and notated. I have tons of recommendations on the area including dining, points of interest, and staples. The house manual is also a great resource. I have a guestbook. Most folks leave notes in, and any tips to help me and or fellow home-sharers coming to visit. My calendar is updated, regularly. Thanks for your interest Please inquire with ANY and all event celebrations. Without permission, you will forfeit your entire deposit and be responsible for any additional financial hardships pertaining to the house and land. I have been happy to have several small gatherings. Including weddings, reunions, girls weekends, men’s weekends. , Graduations, and showers. I am quite reasonable & happy you’re choosing to have them here. However I do have a septic system, for starts. It cannot handle so many people. Proper arrangements need to be made. I am happy to assist and or guide you with my recommendations. There is also a noise ordinance within the town (11pm)So while yes, I would love to have your event here. I do have a small list of reasonable requests, in order to allow it to happen. I am able to offer handmade farm tables, seating, lighting, and other party needs for your event. In addition, I will happily provide a preferred vendor list for all I cannot provide Looking forward to hearing from you! My kindest Lea You will have access to most all of the house. We do NOT allow vehicles to be parked in our garages. We do not allow people to sleep in the garage (yes, this happened), and we keep one room locked in the basement with our personal stuff. You will not have access to. I DO love having guests! And sharing this property with all of the great travelers, vacationers, families, friends, and special celebrations we have been able to host!! There are many great farms in the area, and the oldest co-op, in Belfast. You'll be able to find wonderful ingredients for cozy dinners and summer BBQ. There are 2 large pots for cooking some Maine! We provide tons of great information on the area, including fresh water swimming, great walks along the ocean, local wineries, shopping, snow tubing, snowmobiling, conservation land.and good hikes. We also have plenty of other useful information, including groceries, post office, staples, and other things you may need while visiting. Winter skiing and boarding is a modest drive, but manageable. It's always nice come home to a great warm fire, dinner, and relaxing soak in our jetted claw foot tub Internet access (wifi), plenty of games, movies, Netflix washer and dryer, outdoor seating, umbrella, grill, yoga mats, Bluetooth speaker, dishwasher, are just some of the amenities. Extra sheets and blankets are also available. There are 2 blow up mattresses available. Please let us know your needs. We will do our best to accommodate you. We want you to enjoy your visit!! As little or as often as needed. Our road is a publicly maintained dirt road. You won't see a lot of traffic, as it's a small road. You'll find a farm on each end of the road. Which we love walking down to see the animals. We have a few neighbors. We have found them to be kind and friendly, feel lucky they are nearby, but in no way overwhelming or bothersome. They will wave if they see you, typical Maine :-) Belfast is a very short drive. You'll find great shopping, restaurants, a theatre, and great walks on the water. Camden and also about 1/2 hour drive. A lovely costal Town. We love Lincolnville. It's a small coastal town, with a great ocean beach (small, but amazing!) Green Tree Coffee and Tea Roasters are located there. Not to miss for a great cup and taking in some Maine! You can also ferry out to the island of Isleboro from here Brooks itself has a small theater, with local and live performances. A small market for staples, co-op offering local produce, meats, and dairy. There is a post office, hardware store, 24/7gas, fun thrift store open on Saturdays, and Roaring Acres Golf Course, open to the public All of this information is available at the house, and so much more. Maine is wonderful, all seasons! There is everything from snow tubing, skiing, to hiking, breweries, swimming, good shopping, and great eats. The stars shine bright here and the quiet is exhilarating. We hope you'll find peace, joy, and happiness while visiting. Not so much, it's rural Maine... you'll need a car. There is an airport in Bangor, Augusta, and Portland. Parties more than 8 please inquire within. As we have an additional charge to offset the cost of cleaning, and other usage while you're visiting. Unfortunately after some recent events with an unpleasant group. I will NOT be be permitting dogs anymore. Service dogs of course are always welcome. But unfortunately after recent events NO PETS NO SMOKING 🚭NO VAPING NO E-CIGS inside! Zero exceptions. If there is any trace of smoking indoors you will forfeit your entire security deposit and be reported to Airbnb. Again, zero exceptions. If you are smoking outdoors, clean all butts, trash from your smoking. And please, keep it away from the house. I am a quite reasonable woman. However smoking indoors, I have a zero tolerance for. Especially as once upon a time I was one. My nose is sharp. And never did I smoke indoors. Thank you all ;) TMobile and Sprint have limited service in the area. Verizon and AT&T have a good signal. I use AT&T, and do lose service here and there, to and from the house (dead spots for a random mile or two). It is best to have your destination in mind, and gps'd prior to getting into your car. All of this information has been provided to me, from other guests. And some will hopefully change, in time. I want you to be prepared. Occasionally different gps's will let you off further down the road (near the Peace Sanctuary). Continue on for another mile or so. The house is perched up on a little hill, mailbox is on the opposite side of the road (depending on your direction). *the mailbox seems to get nailed by the plow each winter. The number is on the front door. if you’re planning to arrive after dark, please let me know. I will be certain to leave a few outdoor/indoor lights on for you. During the winter months, i have a lovely man who plows for me If we are expecting a lot of snow it would be good to move your cars (if needed), to give him access to the entire driveway. He will also sand and apply pet safe salt, in abundance as needed It is visible for you to apply also. Please note **as there has been some wonky winter weather the past couple years. The weather may occasionally and rapidly change during your visit. If you find the walkway or drive to be unsafe or difficult to access, please notify my 24/7. I will do my very best to have someone there ASAP to take care of it. I also leave an abundance of pet safe salt and sand for guests. Please use it, if needed or do call. As I want everyone to be safe and comfortable during their stay. Also- you will find several pairs of yaktrax in the garage labeled- first drawer on your left. They are for inclement weather. Please use them While I am responsible for keeping the outdoors clear and safe for you to access the house. With the changes in weather it’s sometimes hard. Please participate in keeping the walkway and driveway safe for all. many thanks, in advance. Also, please remember it’s the winter and Maine. Consider that in both your travels and attire, especially your feet (you’ll be happy you do). Although just for a little extra love...I do have several sets of extra mittens, gloves, hats, and even a couple coats in the closet. Feel free to use them. Perhaps strange? All Washed like the bedding. I just want to give a little more, if I can. You’ll also find several sleds and 4 pairs of (higher end llbean) pairs of snowshoes in the garage to use. Please enjoy and return to their “home” when done. Oh also, you’ll find Musher’s. It’s a wax for your dogs paws in the cold/salt. Which is a courtesy and I accept zero liability for). Please be familiar or research on your own. Like the winter, you’ll also be happy to find summer in the garage drawers. This includes a small abundance of beach towels, pales and shovels for kids, two coolers, and ice packs in the freezer. All drawers are labeled for easy access and return Thank you for taking the time to to rinse the coolers after using them and all other beach gear, for others to enjoy. Next to the drawer, you’ll find 4 proper beach chairs as well as 6 camp style chairs (in a bag). And a really kind of cool “table in a bag”. It is all labeled for you and future guests to enjoy. Please remember this, in using all I provide for you. I know there are many guests that travel from afar on planes. I want you all to have easy access to enjoy all of the seasons when you arrive. Please either print or have directions prior to landing in Augusta. Maine can overall be spotty for service-in completely random spots, whoever your provider is. It’s Maine after all, and a small piece of why it’s so special . Please do not hesitate to ask any questions or contact me. I want everything from your drive and whole visit to be a memorable one, that you'll cherish Thank you! I keep a locked room in the basement, that guests will not be able to access, noted. The house does have pump and and squeeze bottle items for You. This includes body wash/shampoo combos, hand soap, dish soap, dishwasher soap, one fresh sponge. Squeeze bottle condiments, a spice and cooking oil variety. Occasionally if I was last in the house, I may leave milk or cream for coffee. I’ll let you know though. you’ll find a small variety of tea, sugar, flour, and other baking/cooking needs. I provide cloth napkins and cloth/reusable paper towels, reusable “plastic ware”- not plastic. A Brita, cookware, bakeware, lobster bake needs, a crockpot, kids dishware, cocktail shakers, and variety of other possible kitchen needs. Please feel free to ask me if there’s something you’re wondering about, specifically. If something breaks, tell me. If something happens to be broken, un-noted tell me-it happens occasionally, we are human. I leave all stated above, for you to enjoy. However, I accept no liability for what you use. It’s there as a home share. And unfortunately with one not so amazing experience I wanted to just bare bone the space. I made a decision to leave it all and do what I do. This home is meant to share and I love that about it. Dogs visit, peanuts are probably there sometimes, it happens. While I try to have it perfect, sometimes it isn’t. Please communicate with me though if there is ANYTHING I can do! Unfortunately my home is handicapped inaccessible. There are 2 stairs to walk up. There are also spiral stairs, to get to the second level, and lower level. There are two gates you're welcome to put up for your littles to ensure their safety
