"Aloft" is located in a state park, and only 35% of Jekyll Island can be developed. We are surrounded by marshlands and the sea. Our property is situated on a quiet street, nestled between the marshlands and stately oak and pine forests. The space This beautiful 1000 square foot loft has a private entrance and on-site parking. We offer our guests bicycles for their riding pleasure, as well as a welcome basket with fruit, wine and snacks. The owners, Pamela and Michael, live in the main house. When possible, they will meet you at arrival, or shortly after, to welcome you and answer your questions. Just one minute away you'll discover the 18 miles of bike trails surrounding the island. You can bike to the fishing pier and beach and arrive in five minutes. Or, you may want to visit the Historic District, where over 300 Gilded Age (J.P. Morgan, Joseph Pulitizer, William Rockefeller and others) millionaires once lived. They built homes and a Club House on Jekyll Island, beginning in 1888. They typically spent 3-5 months down here yearly for the next 54 years. Their homes are being restored and many can be visited and appreciated. We also have a world renowned Sea Turtle Center, where injured and sick turtles are flown in for surgeries and rehabilitation, and later released back to the sea. Bike toward the south and visit the Tidelands Nature Center, enjoy bird and wildlife viewing, or swim and sunbath on our 12 miles of white sand beaches. We have a seasonal Summer Waves Water Park, four famous golf courses, Red-bug Motorcar rentals, and carriage rides and trolley tours. Also, for the adventurous, scout out the hideaways of our local alligators! All this and so much more! All activities are within minutes. Bed linens, towels and kitchen items are furnished. You bring food, toiletries and enjoy. A four night minimum stay is required. Please note that the 15% sales and lodging tax required by the Jekyll Island authority is included in the booking prices. "Aloft" is located in a quiet residential neighborhood in between the Jekyll Island airport and the campground. That puts us 5 to 10 minutes from the Jekyll Island beaches by car. Bicycle paths start one block from the house. Also, you should know that "Aloft" is an open and airy unit with lots of natural light. It has a private entrance through our garage and is a separate space (not connected to our house) above the garage. You may occasionally hear the garage door open at 6:30 or so in the morning. We don't want that to be a surprise. Otherwise the unit is very quiet. Kitchenette facilities are are a toaster oven, a two burner hot-plate and a microwave. The refrigerator is hotel sized. You access "Aloft" through our garage, up a flight of stairs and through a private entrance.
