Historic 18th century former farmworkers cottage in a peaceful edge of village location with lovely countryside views. Comfortable open plan layout downstairs with cosy wood-burning stove. Fully enclosed private garden, great for dogs, easy access to nearby countryside and coast - a great base to get the best out of this beautiful area of Wales. The nearby village pub in Caio is within walking distance serving food and delicious Sunday lunches The space This authentic Welsh cottage provides self-catering accommodation with comfortable open-plan living, plenty of period charm mixed with everything needed for modern-day living. Comfy sofas and dining table seating 4 surround the cosy wood burning stove with the kitchen leading off leading which has bespoke wooden kitchen units and double Belfast sink, equipped with everything you need to make your stay a comfortable one. Downstairs shower room and large under stairs storage cupboard makes up the downstairs accommodation. Upstairs there is a large storage cupboard with hanging space on the landing between the two cosy eaves bedrooms with dormer windows. Please note:- low ceilings in bedrooms - not a problem for most guests but worth noting if you are very tall. Outside, there is a patio area with garden bench and steps leading to a leaned area with barbeque and storage box and raised decking with garden furniture and clothes dryer. Good reliable superfast broadband provided. Friendly hosts live nearby who are very happy to help if necessary and will gladly recommend places to visit in the local area to suit all tastes. We are child and infant-friendly and also welcome up to 2 well-behaved dogs to the cottage. Many guests have found the quiet location suits dogs with a nervous disposition. A field is usually sometimes available near the cottage for guests to exercise their dogs safely. We provide a complimentary welcome pack which includes locally sourced produce where possible as well as a good supply of tea, coffee (instant and ground), milk, butter and preserves. Complimentary toiletries such as shower gel,shampoo, soap and toilet rolls are also provided. The cosy wood burner makes a great focal point to the sitting area with a plentiful supply of logs and fire lighting equipment. Additional logs can be provided at a small cost on request. There are lovely walks in nearby Caio Forest and Dolaucothi Goldmines as well as further afield. The cottage is in a rural location but not remote and although there are good road and rail links, having your own transport is preferable. From here there is easy access by car to the West Wales coastal towns of Aberaeron, New Quay and Aberystwyth. It is ideally situated to access the numerous attractions that the area has to offer to suit all tastes. Our village pub in Caio village offers food and Sunday lunches and is within walking distance of the cottage Guest access The cottage is detached and is exclusively for guest use with it's own private entrance through a wooden gate with a lit, level paved path to the front door. There is a small step up to the front door with a sturdy handrail. Access to the garden is via three very shallow steps and the decked area has steps with a wooden handrail.The price quoted is for up to a maximum of 4 guests one infant for whom a cot and high chair are provided. Other things to note The cottage is set on a very quiet country lane with very little passing traffic so provides a very quiet and peaceful location with views of the surrounding countryside. There is a petrol station and shop within 2 miles of the cottage and the nearby town of Lampeter is approximately 15 minutes' drive away where there are two supermarkets (Sainsburys and Co-op) plus a number of independent shops and cafes. The cottage also provides a travel cot, high chair, fireguard and built-in gates at the top and bottom of the stairs for guests with small children and to prevent dogs going upstairs (see House Rules). Both Tesco, Asda and Morrisons offer home delivery in this area. Guests should bring their own cot bedding if bringing an infant - all other bedding, towels etc is provided. As previously mentioned, both bedrooms have quite low ceilings with dormer windows and although most guests appreciate that it's part of the character of the cottage, it's worth bearing this in mind if you are very tall Please note that the price quoted is for up to 4 guests plus a cot for one infant. We are child and infant-friendly and also welcome up to 2 well-behaved dogs. Because of it's quiet location and private enclosed garden, the cottage is popular for dogs of a nervous disposition
