A few kilometers from Alghero you will find the Neptune Caves and the archaeological complex of Nuraghe Palmavera. 3. Discover Cagliari Cagliari is the largest city on the island. It has a long and important history. To get to Cagliari from Olbia you have 2 alternatives: train or car. The car is preferable because during the journey you will see other scenic wonders, especially if you follow the Orientale Sarda. The Olbia-Cagliari car journey takes about 3 hours. It is more pleasant to visit the capital of Sardinia in October and November because the Cagliari summer is very hot. The most important attractions in Cagliari are: the Castello district, the bastions, the towers of San Pancrazio and the Elephant. Also in Cagliari, as in Alghero, do not miss a typical lunch.
