2 Night Cruise from Bangkok to Ayutthaya
Description
Cruise the Chao Phraya river onboard the Mekhala, a traditional Thai rice barge. The Mekhala is one of only a few boats that offer an overnight cruise between Bangkok and Ayutthaya, a former capital of Thailand. The price includes accommodation in an air-conditioning cabin, all meals during the cruise and tours during the stops. The space The Mekhala boat has only six cabins. Each cabin is equipped with amenities and has an en-suite bathroom. You will get on the Mekhala at the Oriental Pier, Bangkok, at 1.30 pm. Then, start cruising upstream passing the magnificent Grand Palace and the Temple of Dawn. Observe the way of lives of people who live along the river. In the afternoon, you will visit a fresh market where local people shop for food and fresh produce. At sunset, the boat will dock at a Buddhist temple located in a tranquil rural village. An exquisite candlelit dinner of Thai cuisine will be served on the deck. You will spend the night in an air-conditioning cabin. The next day, you will visit a riverside village in the morning. Then, Enjoy a tour at Bang Pa In Summer Palace. Discover a complex of royal residences originally built around the 17th century to serve as a summer palace of Ayutthaya kings and reconstructed in the 19th century. We will stop at the pier near the summer palace for an overnight stay. On the last day, we will start cruising back to Bangkok. En route, we will stop for a tour at an ethnic Mon community and witness its unique culture and craftsmanship of clay pottery. Take part in a pottery making class with local artisan.
