Description

This light and warm cottage tucked in at the end of the Row is perfect to switch off and relax. It’s the only cottage with the conservatory and enjoys uninterrupted views of the village, the church and Toadsmoor Valley. Bisley itself is one of the most beautiful conservation village set high in the Cotswolds. Full of modern comforts, but still 200 years-old, with its country garden and wonderful views overlooking the village you will be thrilled you chose this hid The space Built in 1825 our holiday home has three floors at the far end of a terrace of farm-workers cottages. This “listed” building has many of its original features including traditional limestone walls, oak beams, fire places. Uninterrupted views of our beautiful village are a feature of our country garden. Number 1, The Row has two bedrooms, one on the first floor one on the second. Each with a bathroom.Access is by a traditional (fairly steep) staircase. Both bedrooms enjoy stunning views over the village and the countryside beyond. The top floor bedroom has an en-suite compact bathroom and standard double bed with ample storage. The bedroom on the first floor has a larger adjoining bathroom and shower, standard double bed but with more limited storage space. On the ground floor is a kitchen/dining area plus a small utility room. Adjoining this area is a sunny, south facing conservatory with TV and is ideal for relaxing and enjoying the wonderful views the village and countryside it offers. The kitchen/dining area with original stone walls and beams has a wood burning stove, 'Rayburn' cooker and all mod cons, including ''wifi' in all areas. The adjoining conservatory leads out into a "cottage" garden. The garden enjoys day-long sunshine and is perfect for eating outside (a BBQ is available) or simply relaxing. A path near the cottage leads to the heart of the village minutes away. Two pubs and a local shop are close by and directly from your door are many lovely walks that take you into some of the most beautiful countryside in England. Read the reviews, our guests love it! Guest access You will have access to the whole house and garden. The cottage has been recently sympathetically renovated in traditional style and has everything you would need for a comfortable country break. Bisley is a beautiful village much of it built in the 17th and 18th century with with wealth generated by the woollen industry. Roots of the village go back to the Roman times and our neighbours house is recorded in the Doomsday book. The village has its own church with active bell ringers. A small shop shop and two great pubs. All this means it enjoys a "conservation" status with many of the buildings "listed"..including "The Row". Parking for the Row is on the road 50 metres from the house. Other things to note Bear in mind the stairs in this old cottage may be steeper and doorways lower than you are used to. (Bisley folk born in the 18th century were shorter than today). Also, storage space is limited in the First floor bedroom. Cooking is by a' Rayburn' stove with hotplates. (Same as an 'Aga'). These cooking stoves are traditional features of many Cotswold cottages. They provide room heat as well as a means to cook. Fear not..there is also a a Microwave incorporating an oven, toaster, small hot plate and electric kettle. Bisley is a 'dark village'. It has decided not to have street lights (great for star-gazing) so a torch is helpful. One is provided in the cottage. We have lovely neighbours who enjoy a generally quiet and peaceful village so please bear this in mind. No parties please and excessive noise after 11pm. With notice, checking in/out times and luggage storage can usually be extended.
