The Seaside Apartment

A unique, luxurious hideaway for one or two. Perched on the cliff top of the Ninety Mile Beach with the sand, sea and surf at your door, this exclusive apartment is one of a kind. The space Catherine’s family have lived in Lake Tyers Beach since the 1950’s. Their family home was built in a magnificent cliff top position with both ocean frontage and coastal wilderness at the door. Catherine has recently completed a major renovation of the original home to create two independent, self-contained living spaces. Whilst Catherine and her partner Bob live in the upper story The Seaside Apartment is available downstairs for guests. In collaboration with a local architect Catherine has created a unique living space and opened up panoramic views of the sea and coastal wilderness. Polished Australian hardwood floors, cedar windows and blinds combined with exotic furnishings have created a rich and luxurious warmth to the interior. There is a fully equipped kitchen with quality appliances including a dishwasher, oven, refrigerator, microwave and ceramic cooktop. The bathroom occupies two spaces featuring a freestanding, stone hand basin, marble and terrazzo tiles, pewter tap ware and a rain shower. A small dressing room creates a convenient space to store luggage and clothes. The king size bed has a quality Australian made mattress and luxurious linen as well as a view of the sea from your pillow. A 50’’ TV with DVD can be viewed from the couch or the bed. The interior dining area and spacious outdoor deck both have views of the forest, garden and sea. Beside the deck an outside shower with hot and cold water is available to rinse off the sand and salt when you return from the beach. The entire house is solar powered. Guest access The Seaside Apartment is designed for easy access. It is situated on the ground floor of the house and all interior floors in the apartment are on one level including the shower base. The space is very secure. A set of keys will be made available for you to use during your stay. Guests can arrive and let themselves in at any time. A staircase with a handrail to the beach is 20 meters from your door. Lake Tyers is a short 15 minute walk along the surf beach, through the coastal forest or down the road. Otherwise it is 2 minutes by car. Many easy bush walks from your door can also be taken into the coastal wilderness where native flora and fauna abound. At night the nocturnal marsupials such as Wombats, Echidnas, Potoroos, Bandicoots, Wallabies and Possums can often be seen amongst the tea trees. It is a bird watchers paradise - - from the windows of your apartment or your deck you will see a local family of Sea Eagles glide by, various Honey Eaters feasting on the nectar in the flowers, spectacular Parrots, Black Cockatoos, Whip Birds, Blue Wrens, Eastern Spine Bills and more. Other things to note The Red Bluff and Sandy Point surf breaks have been popular with surfers since the 1960’s. Both are accessible on foot (10 mins) or by car (5 mins). The seasonal migration of whales up and down the east coast is an annual ritual. It is sometimes possible to see the magnificent creatures pass by if you are in residence at this time of the year.
