Spend the night in the historic center of Vaals. The French Church dates from 1667 and was converted into living quarters in 1837. This national monument has been restored in the style and materials of 1837. The authentic interior is half-timbered and finished with clay. Shops are in walking distance. Drielandenpunt 2 km. Apartment on the 1st floor. 2nd floor inhabited and given the nature of the building it is not mouse quiet. The space Large living room with fully equipped kitchen. Large kitchen table, plenty of room to work with laptops. Two spacious bedrooms with double bed. With firm mattresses (some guests find this a bit hard, other guests like it) Double sofa bed in second bedroom for possible 5th and 6th guest (€15 per guest/night). Luxury shower. Washing machine. Wood stove - a Jotul F3 CB with extra clean combustion and a glass door. Courtyard with seating area for four people. Extra table and chairs available. In July 2024, new high-efficiency radiators were installed. October 2024, the PVT solar panels with heat pump were installed. We are (almost) energy neutral. Unique for a national monument. Only cooking is still done on gas. Guest access Shared front door. Apartment has its own door and its own doorbell. Other things to note The house is completely finished with loam. Floors and wooden parts are in the oil or wax. This gives a very pleasant living environment. Cool in the summer (no AC needed) and warm in the winter. We also live in the house with two boys aged 18 and 21...... sometimes they make some noise. Bikes may be inside the hallway. Free parking at 200 meter or in Germany (50 meter). In the street and in the square with day ticket for 4€ (present in the apartment). Charging station for electric car in the square (50 meter). Storing motors in the courtyard, electric motor can charge there. Electric bikes can load in the hallway. The French Church is part of the historic city walk Vaals. Located along several hiking trails such as Dutch mountain trail and Krijtlandpad. The stages of the Dutch mountain trail are all accessible from the French Church via public transport. The CHIO in Aachen (12 km), Formula 1 in Spa (52 km) and Pinkpop (18 km) are also easily accessible. The 3 country point is accessible with a brisk walk in 20 min. In the house are two books that tell the story of the former 4 country point with the disappeared country of Neutral Moresnet. Aachen city center is 4.5 km away and easily accessible by bus (German and Dutch bus). In consultation, 2 bicycles to borrow. Use of quiet, sunny family garden behind the church is possible in consultation. Binnenhofje with sitting area is always available. Tourist tax is already included in the price (€2.90 per guest per day). With your stay, you will support the renovation of the French church. The roof on the south side has just been restored and is equipped with PVT panels, solar panels and heat pump integrated. Our goal is to make this monument energy neutral. The system has been running since October 2024. Only cooking is still on gas. Temperature is adjustable per room via the Google hub or radiator knob. A request to book different dates than it seems possible is always negotiable.
