Studio space in a Victorian House, Jericho, Oxford

Lovely, light and open studio. Ensuite toilet/shower room, CCTV, Fast 300mb WiFi, 32'' TV, sofa, controllable underfloor heating, desk, additional chairs, fridge, kettle, microwave. Main area with lounge area at one end (with sofa bed), and a double bed at the other of the room (separated by a large wardrobe). 10-15min walk to the centre, 2-5min to Jericho's bars, restaurants & countryside. Sleeps 2 comfortably, but 4 at a push with the lounge sofa bed. Parking available (£10 per 24hrs) The space Homely and stylish studio space, separate entrance, the space comes with quality furniture and fittings to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Perfect for everyone, for a city escape, visiting academic, business trip, family stay or whatever your reason for visiting. My two girls (aged 7 and 10) and I live in the remainder of the house, we are available to help and have good neighbours to step in if we are away. Noise is kept to a minimum, like any house there will be some sound that travels from us or our neighbours on occasion. Exceptions - no parties or visitors beyond your group (unless agreed in advance), sorry it’s a quiet family area and we want to avoid antisocial behaviour in and outside the property. Our aim is to make your stay the best possible. As the apartment is only used for Airbnb we welcome feedback and suggestions as we want to continually improve. Bathroom: Large walk in shower, sink and toilet. Hot towel rail recently installed and adjacent to which your towels will be left ready for you to use (it’s on a timer and goes on three times in a day). Breakfast area: Microwave, kettle, fridge (please bring your own milk or equivalent), chopping board (with cutlery in a draw under it), glasses, cups etc - if you need anything specific please let us know and we'll be happy to help. Please note that this is a breakfast area not a full kitchen (there is no hob or cooker) as the space does not have an extractor fan and the local area has a tonne of high quality restaurants and takeaways. The nearest shop is the Hayfield Deli is 2min walk away for pastries, milk, orange juice etc. There are many places to go out for breakfast along Walton Street (e.g. Jericho Cafe). Note: there is no toaster as burnt toast sets off fire alarms throughout the house, and on occasion has woken up the kids. Below we've provided a FAQ section to help. FAQs: Is a key left out for me? Yes - so you can arrive at your convenience we leave a key for you to collect (details given to you via Airbnb when you book). Can I get access the flat before 3pm to drop off my luggage? Sadly with the additional cleaning time required due to Covid-19 it’s not possible to drop off your luggage in advance. How do I access WIFI and is it any good? Yes - Speeds are the fastest broadband that the local infrastructure can provide (200mb). WIFI code and other info can be found on Airbnb (“guest resources”) and we have printed out a 'Welcome’ sheet for you with useful info as well as the Wifi code. Heating, how do I change the temperature? Instructional videos are online, search for “jg speedfit aura instructions”. Please do let us know what settings you change. Also note that if you leave the door wide open, the underfloor heating will continuously kick in producing heat to maintain the set room temperature. So if you want the temperature at a lower level please adjust the thermostat on the wall just left of the TV. Extra bedding & Sofa Bed Use - there are two of us staying but we would like to use the extra bedding, can this be arranged? Yes certainly. Our cleaners charge per set of linen so with two people staying we have kept the costs low (ie charges are to clean one set of linen for the double bed. £20 is charged by the cleaning company for the extra set (if only two people are staying). If 3 or more are staying then the cost is factored in. Any recommendations for places to eat, drink and sightsee? Yes – you are in luck, our area has so many great restaurants and a huge diversity of styles. Our listing has recommendations (see the Guide Book “Jericho and Oxford Local Favourites”), and we have left out some example menus of our favourites. Local establishments are only a short walk away or a telephone call with a variety of food from across the world. Do you leave out shower products etc? Suggest you bring your preferred products. In emergencies we have left out body wash etc. To save on plastic waste please don’t throw these away as we refill them. Do you have a TV? Yes – its great! Enjoy! Can I have a later checkout time than 10am? Sadly this is difficult to arrange, we get charged a £26 admin fee to change the cleaning companies set cleaning times booked for our Airbnb. It's what the cleaning company charges us to rearrange their day, and as we aim to keep costs as competitive as possible we sadly have to pass on the cost. Do you supply an iron, hair dryer etc? Hair dryer, iron, ironing board,, spare bin liners, additional toilet rolls, broom, dustpan and brush. All located in the white cupboard by the front entrance doorway. Do you provide towels, linen etc? Yes - the apartment also includes all bed linen, extra blankets, fresh towels (one per person), if you need more please let us know especially if you are staying for an extended period. Note the cleaning company charges per item collected, washed, dried and returned, we will let you know the cost so you can decide what additional items you want to request. What local taxi firm do you recommend? Royal Cars (please find them online), they are usually quick to arrive (within 5-10minutes) and reasonably priced. Can I change the heating settings? Yes – but being environmentally conscious please take this into account when turning up the heat. If you do make changes please do let us know so we can return the settings to their previous state. Please search online “JG Speedfit Aura Instructions” for instructions. It can get too hot very easily if you put the temperature up too high so do put the settings on a lower temperature and adjust when it’s reached that if need be. I have a baby buggy, can I leave it in the flat? Yes sure, and it should be safe outside on the ground floor. Do you have a travel cot? Sadly we don’t, but please do bring one. I want to hire a bike is there somewhere local? Yes, there are hire bikes on Walton Street or Summertown Cycles and go online for details of local shops that hire them. If you let us know well in advance we can help with arranging bikes also. I smoke, can I? Please NO smoking in the space or outside the doors. Simply walk outside the front gate, but please take care that no smoke blows into the property if a door or window is open, and keep the noise down as there are young kids sleeping. Can I have extra guests stay over? Yes - any extra guests beyond the original booking number must be communicated and agreed via Airbnb messaging, as there is a small charge to cover the provision and laundry of additional towels, bedding, extra usage of facilities etc ( Is the local area safe? The area is very friendly, safe and family orientated. There is no need to lock the door at night when in. I like listening to loud music or TV, is that ok? Sure, within reason as it’s a family neighbourhood with no parties, the neighbouring meadow and clubs in town are there places to go. Parking my car is it easy? Yes - parking is available (£10 per 24hrs). We'll leave the parking details inside the property with a clear plastic wallet for you to post the £10 in our letter box on the day of your arrival. Please take into account that Sundays restrictions on the roads are less but please check the parking signs to be sure. Also there are some limited 'free spaces' between the resident parking areas, so please check the Oxford council's website as there are free 2hour parking bays in both Farndon road and St Margaret's road. Washing up, can I? Of course, there is washing up liquid and a scourer located in the alcove where the towels are in the bathroom. There is a washing up bowl in the cupboard by the front door also. From the photos you will see the through room with lounge area at one end (with sofa bed), and a double bed at the other. Ensuite toilet / shower room, High Speed WiFi, controllable underfloor heating, 32'' TV, fridge, sofa, table lamps, study table, and additional chairs. Very comfortable for a couple staying. The sofa bed gives sleeping arrangements for a further two guests "at a push". Guest access The studio is yours while here. We are only an email away. Neighbours and the community are friendly and engaging. Private access via steps at the front of the property. A key will be left for you for your arrival please ensure you get this info in advance of arrival - please see the AirBnB 'Itinerary' that Airbnb will send to you on booking. We respect your privacy with a separate entrance to ours and easy key collection as soon as you arrive (via the equivalent of a key safe) so no need to arrange a time to meet. However, we are friendly folk so if you would like to say hello please feel free to come and say hi. Checking in time AFTER 3pm (so as to give time for changeover between guests), the cleaners need the time before 3pm to get the studio ready after the previous guests so sadly we are not able to offer any access before this time to store luggage for example. Checkout by 10am; Handing back the keys couldn't be easier, simply post in the main house letter box no later than 10am on the day of departure. If you need to check out later please let us know, the cleaning company charges an admin feel of £20 to re-arrange their schedule, but if you are ok with covering this cost then we can certainly try to accommodate a later checkout time. Other things to note Have fun (but no parties, sorry), and enjoy the local restaurants, bars and countryside at your fingertips (Port Meadow is 5min away, being so beautiful it's worth taking the time to experience). The apartment contains a welcome manual with all aspects of the apartment detailed as well as WiFi password, takeaway menus and local attractions. Table lamps by the bed are operated by a push switch under the lampshade on the brass fitting. Please wash up, dry and put back any items used from the breakfast / fridge area. Washing up liquid and tea towels can be found in the on suite bathroom (behind the towels), there is a washing up bowl in the cupboard by the front door if you would like to use that. The property owner lives in the remainder of the house and should be able to help with guests needs - please contact via email (preferable) or text on the mobile phone if its an emergency. The AirBnB listing page has a map with details of local shops, restaurants, points of interest / other services. For watching movies - the 32 inch TV has HDMI and USB ports on its right hand side. Note - if possible please separate out recycling (‘blue’ bin = mixed recycling, found at ground level). To remove the rubbish after your stay, feel free - the bins are located in the front of the property (green for landfill). Cleaning fee is kept to a minimum, it covers not only a deep clean of the studio after each guest but also the costs associated with washing, drying and replacing all bed linen / towels.
