The cabin is located on 650 acres of privately owned forest accessing the Clarion River and the North Country Hiking Trail, minutes from downtown, Clarion. Take a few steps out the door and trek the North Country Trail along gentle pathways or exert a little more energy to see the Scenic Loops. Next, cool down on your dock on the Clarion River Lake. Swim, fish ,kayak, boat or just relax in the sun. Finish the day dining on he River Overlook deck, the campfire, or a fine local restaurant. The space Cathedral Cabin was completed in the Fall of 2014. It has a complete kitchen featuring native Cherry hardwood cabinets. The loft has two bedrooms and a full bath. The shower in the loft has a beautiful slate stone shower, while the main living area has an attractive spacious half bath. Ideally suited for two couples or 4 adults but it may accommodate up to six (6) people easily or even 8 if need be.The open floor plan provides nearly 900 square feet of living space in addition to a unique covered porch for outdoor entertainment. The outdoor fire area is a great place to extend your evenings and entertain or enjoy the company of each other. If you like natural you will like Cathedral Cabin. Knotty maple walls, beamed Hemlock ceilings, Sassafras and Larch floors are accented with brightly colored walls to create a cheery cabin environment. The antique and rustic furnishings help set the tone for a relaxing, fun stay in the Pennsylvania Wilds. Remember, however, that this wooded 650 acre privately owned property is only minutes from the college community of Clarion, PA and Interstate 80 with easy access to shopping and entertainment. Clarion Riverhill Cabins is open year round and offers a wide variety of seasonal activities. Between the months of may and October dock space on the Clarion River is provided for the enjoyment of all guests. You may dock your speed boat, pontoon boat, jet ski, kayak, canoe, paddleboat or other water devices. This section of the Clarion River provides approximately 14 miles of deep water for water skiing and jet skiing enthusiasts or easy paddling for a variety of other water sports. Fishing is good throughout the spring, summer and fall. Summer fishing is best earlier in the morning or early evening when river traffic subsides or is less. Spring and fall fishing provides fewer distractions from other water sports. Winter Fishing through the ice is possible much of the time if you are an experienced and safety minded winter angler. The property is home to approximately 5 miles of the National Parks administered North Country Trail. Cathedral Cabin, named for the retrofitted church windows and forest cathedral, sits on the trail, not near the trail, but ON THE TRAIL. Put on your boots , open the door, step off the porch and your hike begins. In the winter you won't find a more beautiful area to snow shoe or cross country ski. The woods and trails abundantly broadcast their beauty no matter what season of the year. For some of the Scenic Trail Loops that feature dramatic Hemlock forested waterfall views it is advisable to remove your skis and/or snowshoes in the winter. Ambitious hikers may continue treks on the North Country Trail to Cook's Forest, or in other directions, if they are looking for the maximum hiking experience. The owner's reside on a nearby portion of the property. If desired the owners will meet guests upon their arrival and provide a brief overview of the cabin facilities, the 650 acre site, North Country Trail locations and Trailheads, and the surrounding areas. Directions, printed materials, and maps will be available for Clear Creek State Park, Cook's Forest, Clarion University, the community of Clarion, PA and other local sites or attractions. Guests will be able to contact the owners at anytime and are encouraged to do so to help them have an enjoyable stay. Clarion Riverhill Cabins is a unique wilderness experience. It is situated in 650 acres of privately owned forest with property frontage on the Clarion River. There are no other options like this on the Clarion Reservoir. You can enjoy the hustle and bustle of a thriving summer river community and then retire to the peace and quiet of a secluded, forested cabin with all the amenities. Some guests, have in the past, mentioned that they thought the cabin was on the river, to be clear it is not. It is a short 10 minute walk across a portion of our property or a few minutes by car. Within 5 minutes or less of exiting Interstate 80 or Clarion, PA you can be on the river or in your cabin. It is private but accessible. Guests primarily arrive at Clarion Riverhill Cabins by ground transportation. Once here, there is ample loading, unloading and parking space availability. In most cases there is ample parking for multiple vehicles. When convergences of family or friends dictate additional parking considerations additional parking will be provided . The Clarion County Airport is less than 10 minutes from Clarion Riverhill Cabins. Guests interested in flying in should contact the airport directly and call us if they require ground transportation. Linens, bathroom and kitchen towels and cloths will be provided for up to 4 people. A small charge will be necessary for providing the above to additional guests up to six (6) people. Guest access Guests will have full access to the cabin, cabin site, North Country Trail and access on the river. The cabin site includes outdoor seating on the porch, an outdoor table and chairs and a campfire area. The North Country Trail is administered by the National Park Service which means that you have access to the entire length of the Trail from the Dakota's to New Hampshire. Specifically, Cathedral Cabin is literally on the trail, so you can walk out of your cabin onto the Trail and hike approximately 5 miles of Trail on our property. The river access will include docking on the river for the customers personal watercraft which could include, power boat, jet ski, canoes or kayaks. Other things to note Linens, bathroom and kitchen towels and cloths will be provided for up to 4 people. For each person over 4 there is a $10 fee per person per night. We also offer a 20% discount for weekly bookings. There is a $80 cleaning fee. Guests are asked to put all used linens and other laundry by the door. Do not take any bedding, linens, towels, furniture etc. out of doors. Guests should fold down and remove decorative bedding before retiring. D0 NOT PUT DECORATIVE BEDDING AND PILLOWS IN THE USED LAUNDRY BAG. When leaving turn off all lights, turn thermostat down to 60 degrees, lock door and be sure it is pulled tightly closed and is locked. One pack of firewood will be provided to all tenants staying 2 or more nights. Additional packs of firewood may be purchased for $$20. Please note that all holidays and summer season weekends have a preference for a 3 night minimum booking. Requests for 1 & 2 night stays will be accepted as possible. Tuesday and Wednesday nights are available for 1 night booking when vacant Dogs are accepted with a $125 pet fee and pet preregistration. Owners arriving with unregistered pets may be charged an additional $100 unregistered onsite booking fee. Owners are expected to follow good indoor and outdoor pet hygiene practices. Dogs are not to be left alone.
