Mountain Retreat Cumberland Plateau, Walk to Lake
Our home is a mountain retreat with a screened front porch and large back deck. Hosted by Jay and Wendy. 10 minute drive to the main gate of the University of the South (Sewanee). 1/10 of a mile from 30-acre Laurel Lake for walking access to fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. Quick access to all hiking and biking on the Cumberland Plateau and South Cumberland State Park. The Mountain Goat Market, at the end of Laurel Lake Drive, has the best sandwiches on The Mountain - Yelp 100. 1,400 square foot living space. Plenty of parking on site. Fishing and paddling on Laurel Lake are within walking distance. Five miles to the entrance of Sewanee, The University of the South. There is WIFI at the house. The MBR bed is a select comfort dual air control mattress. The second bedroom has two twin beds with 2 mattresses each, by pulling the extra mattresses onto the floor, there will be 2 more spots available to sleep comfortably. The large screened porch and back deck add to the overall living space. There are dozens of nearby hikes and waterfalls for all ability levels. Rock climbing too! Firepit in the backyard for outdoor entertainment! Look for the "guidebook" informational binder at the house when you arrive. Enjoy! Entire house screened porch and deck available. Weber BBQ grill on the back deck for your use. Parking is available in the driveway. Family and friends located nearby. The house is located in the woods on a ridge of the Cumberland Plateau across from Laurel Lake, the Monteagle reservoir. Foster Falls, Greeter Falls, Fiery Gizzard Trail -all part of South Cumberland State Park are located nearby. The Caverns concert and Bonaroo Music festival venues are also nearby. The Mountain Goat Market is one mile at the head of Laurel Lake Drive and Main Street, a must-try! Biking is a very popular mode of transportation. 966 Laurel Lake is located near The Caverns and Bonaroo music venues. Tours of Jack Daniel and George Dickel distilleries are well worth doing, each about a 45- minute drive. The Tennessee Coal Mine Museum in Whitwell is run by actual coal miners, great stories!
