Edifice Rex

Edifice Rex, a 300 square foot studio apartment, is only one mile and less than 2 minutes from Interstate 81 yet it offers a very bucolic, peaceful setting. Countless cultural, historical and recreational opportunities exist within a 30 mile radius. The James River and Appalachian Trail are but minutes away. The space The space was created with old materials and the intention to please those that want a space to comfort the heart and amuse the eye. The pine floors were salvaged from an old building on the property, same for the wainscoting. The headboard for the bed is an ancient pine mantel piece from a neighboring log cabin that is now, sadly, no more. Many of the tables were hand made by the host using old pine flooring and plumbing pipe. The interior doors were also harvested from an old building and the "wall art" includes an old wooden shutter that was originally on the cabin building before it was restored. "The Crimpster" , the character that protects the space from it's perch over the headboard came to life from a metal tool that was once used to crimp tin roofs back in the day. Old stuff put to use again awaiting the next traveler. Guest access Edifice Rex has a private entrance.
