The apartment has fantastic sea views from the kitchen, living room and bedroom. Maidencombe beach is a short walk away (5 mins) and the apartment is on some of South Devon's best coastal paths. Maidencombe is nestled on the coast inbetween Torquay and Teignmouth (both 10-15 mins drive away). The space Oystercatcher court, named after the birds which frequent the area, is a newly renovated apartment building which replaced a former hotel. Your apartment is on the first floor and is made up of two bedrooms, a bathroom and open plan kitchen & living area. It has stunning sea views throughout the property and is surrounded by fields and greenery. Maidencombe is a tranquil hamlet on the coast nestled between nearby Torquay and Teignmouth which are both a ~10 minute drive away. It is a very quiet and tranquil area which benefits from a secluded beach, coastal paths, beach cafe, thatched gastro pub and a 2 rosette restaurant. Maidencombe Village green (a 2 minute walk away) is a lovely green area with benches, rope swing and badminton net where you can enjoy the area's tranquility. The Thatched tavern (a 2 minute walk away) is recognised as one of South Devon's best pubs by the Guardian and offers gastro pub dining complete with wood fired pizza oven. Orestone manor's Bay Restaurant (a 10 minute walk away) serves reasonably priced local produce and has been recognised with 2 AA rosettes. Cafe Rio on Maidencombe beach (a 3-5 minute walk away) serves fresh coffee, light lunches, ice creams and offers a Stand Up Paddle board rental service which we can fully recommend. South Devon is perfect for cyclists and walkers; Dartmoor National park just 11 miles away and Dawlish just 8 miles away, giving you the choice of some stunning rural and coastal routes. The apartment also has an outdoor bike shed. About the apartment The apartment comes with everything you need to enjoy your coastal break. The kitchen is equipped with new AEG appliances (fridge, freezer, dishwasher, cooker & induction hob, washing machine & dryer), high quality Sage products (Kettle, Toaster & Microwave) and a Nespresso coffee machine. There is a large kitchen table which comfortably sits 6 and is positioned in front of the double glass doors with sea view. The living area has a 4 seater sofa which pulls out into a sofa bed and is positioned in front of a large window with sea view. There is a Smart TV (including Netflix) atop a unit which contains some board games for your evening entertainment. The bathroom features a bath with overhead "rain" shower & separate handheld shower. There is a vanity cupboard and heated towel rail. Bedroom 1 has a king sized bed which is positioned in front of the glass double doors looking out to the sea, meaning you can wake up to the sea view on each morning of your stay. It has a wardrobe with chest of drawers and a dressing table with mirror. Bedroom 2 has a double bed and views of the surrounding fields. It has a large double wardrobe and 4 chest of drawers for clothes storage. The living room has a sofa bed which serves as an additional sofa bed, again with a sea view. The apartment is fitted with privacy blinds which allow you to chose between a translucent blind or a blackout blind. The translucent blinds are great for privacy without blocking the view, while the blackout blinds are great for a dark room at night. The apartment has high speed broadband, enabling you to work from the apartment if desired. (We work from home while staying in the apartment and enjoy working from the large kitchen table while taking in the sea views.) There are also three Nest audio smart speakers so that you can enjoy background music in each room while getting ready etc. There is dedicated parking for one car in the car park and free street parking on the adjoining roads. There is an electric vehicle charging point in the car park, but it is around 10 meters away from our parking bay, so guests will need to ensure they have a charging cable long enough or an extension lead. Guests are not permitted to park at the charging point itself, since this would block access to another apartment's parking bay. Note that there are many chargers nearby (e.g. Lidl and Cafe Ode). Things to do nearby We will of course provide a guest guide after booking, but here is a high level summary of the activities available in Maidencombe: - Maidencombe beach is a secluded beach just 5 minutes walk from the apartment. Seals are very frequently spotted in the water and around to the right at Seal cove. Dolphins are sometimes spotted. PLEASE NOTE: there is a very steep staircase leading down to the beach and there is no disabled access. - Paddle boarding - Paddle boards can be rented from Cafe Rio on the beach and there are some awesome abandoned beaches along the coast. Perfect for a proposal location ;) - Coastal walks - The apartment is surrounded by the Maidencombe coastal path which boasts some great views of the area. There are many wildlife to look at along the way. Binoculars will be left in the apartment if you'd like to use them. - Coasteering - Rock Solid Coasteering is based 2 minutes away from the apartment and is a great day out. The team will tailor the experience to your group and you will adorn a wetsuit to explore the coastline, climb cliffs and perform safe jumps into the sea. - Food - The Thatched Tavern and Orestone manor are both within walking distance for great gastro pub or 2 rosette food. Note: we are still waiting to take delivery of a wardrobe for Bedroom 1, so it is currently being offered without any clothes storage, but there is ample in Bedroom 2 to serve the whole apartment. We are also awaiting delivery of bedside tables for one room, so our first guests wont benefit from these, and we have adjusted our prices accordingly. We appreciate your understanding.
