Historic Victorian house full of character in the Port of Los Angeles. Walking distance to the Marina, craft brewery and restaurants. 1880s home in San Pedro, renovated so the cozy Victoriana is there but shared with modern comforts and an eclectic feel. Good for business travelers & families (with older kids). Dog friendly +2. The primary renter should be 25+. Please note: I live in a separate attached living space. You have your own entrances and privacy. HSR19-001353 Casa Roxanna is a historic 2 story Victorian built by Captain Alex Smith, pilot of the first Catalina passenger ships. How many 125+ year old historic houses can you find in LA? Besides its uniqueness you'll find nice outdoor lounging space on the front porch, back deck and upper "widows walk". There's also a HOT TUB for your use, a BBQ, fire pit and laundry facilities. You have a full kitchen and a large dining room. I have an eclectic, artsy decorating style. You will see my interest in different cultures and in history reflected in the interior spaces. By the same token, I want you to be as comfortable as I am living here. This is no museum! All three guest bedrooms are on the 2nd floor. The master bedroom upstairs has a warm woody feel with a king size bed, a bathroom with euro shower and French doors leading out to the widows walk where you can have morning coffee. The other two upstairs bedrooms each have a queen bed. The downstairs living room can also be used as a bedroom with doors that create privacy. There are two bathrooms, the main one on the first floor and the master en-suite bath on the 2nd floor. The other two bedrooms upstairs will share the main bathroom downstairs. There is an extra single folding bed and a Queen sofa-bed as well as a play and pack infant bed available (Let me know in advance if you need it). I also have a high chair. The house was built by my great uncle’s parents, Captain Alexander Smith and his wife, Cora in 1886-7. My grandparents lived here also. I got to know the house at a young age. My private space: The house shares a wall downstairs with a small separate space with its own entrance that I use when I'm home. Your privacy will be maintained. When I'm in town I will try to notify you. City of Los Angeles registration #HSR19-001353 You can use everything except my personal locked space. If you want to use my bikes let me know ahead of time so I can make them accessible for you. For the house I use electronic locks. Your group can access via the app or a keypad access code given prior to your arrival. I normally travel extensively and I'm gone for long stretches but this is my primary home. I am happy to answer questions. I will provide you with alternative contacts if I'm unavailable. I welcome longer term guests. Let me know via Airbnb messaging and I may be able to make calendar adjustments. Please ask questions and I will gladly offer recommendations to help make your visit great! Mi casa es su casa! The happy traveler! This is a multi-cultural, working class neighborhood. It is NOT gentrified yet, but I predict it will be. Most of my neighbors work in some capacity related to the waterfront: longshore, seaman or support like chiropractor office. There's a little market on the corner and the tamale man comes by every morning calling out his wares (they're really good!). We are close to public transportation, restaurants, a craft brewery, and unique shops called, Crafted. You might want to take a stroll in the marina or even out to the beach. Bikes are recommended but walking is good too. The city has a bike rental program and rental bikes are located in the nearby Marina near the Doubletree Hotel. Street parking can be competitive on street cleaning day (Monday and Tuesday). I do have a single garage space and remote you can use. Wednesday morning is trash day and the back alley is the access point. Yes, a bus stop is 1-1/2 blocks away. LA is very automobile oriented though so a car rental is probably best. I have bikes you can use too. There is a single garage space you can use. We are 3 minutes away from the cruise terminal and the Catalina Express. San Pedro is about 30-40 minutes from downtown LA by car, 40-60 minutes to Venice and Santa Monica, 40-50 minutes from Disneyland. We are located between Long Beach and Palos Verdes. I have good, strong fiber wifi. Absolutely No smoking! No parties of any kind without written permission. Quiet hours 10pm to 8am. No hot tub use during quiet hours.
