Big, light, double bedroom in Highbury.
Description
Bright, high-ceiling room available in a large 3 bedroom garden flat set over two floors of a VIctorian terrace on a quiet, leafy North London Street. King-sized bed, desk and WiFi. Shared use of bathroom, and kitchen. The place is lovely and big but needs some modernisation so I keep prices down with the WARNING that you will have everything you need BUT IT IS BASIC. The space This is an ideal and private base for a city break or business trip. It is spacious, light and super-relaxed.. There's a cinema set-up downstairs with a massive roll-down screen for a real movie experience. Or you can borrow a tablet and stream films or whatever in your room Guests often say the place feels like an artist's home, which may be a nice way of saying it is old and basic. i.e. If you want a nice shower, look elsewhere, However, there is light and space here. It is big, mostly clean (sometimes when I am on parenting duty/up against a deadline it gets stretched) and it is an accommodating, friendly environment in which there is privacy and space to unwind. Guest access There is a very large downstairs living space/ basic kitchen which you can use During your stay I'm a writer/director previously based in comedy for many years. Currently making documentaries . I've lived in London all my life. I live alone two weeks of the month and my kids (11 and 6) live with me the other two weeks. I'm often around and more than happy to help with whatever. But the layout of the place means you you can keep completely to yourself if you like. Downstairs there is often a work project on the go: life is v integrated with work here. There may be comedians around the kitchen table working on jokes; we've done stand up shows in the large living space; I'm editing a movie in the kitchen. i.e. there's a lot of life and family and work running through here. This is very much a working, living London home and when you walk through the space downstairs to get to your room, you will quite likely see this. But you can ignore all this. It's quiet and private in your room. It also has its own lock. You can come and go at all hours. Other things to note This isn't a professionally-run hostel/hotel set-up and is possibly closer to the original ethos of air b&b. - i.e. a working home letting out a room. I will do everything to make it nice for you but sometimes I drop the ball and can't sort the bathroom out or clear the kitchen up in time if I'm on other duties. A small number of guests who've stayed have been unhappy about this kind of thing and in most cases, those criticisms are fair. The place is nice and big, not at all depressing but if you don't find creaky floorboards charming or you mind having to wiggle the front door to get it to open this is not the place for you.
