Our warm + welcoming country home is nestled in the midst of 40 acres with meadows, majestic redwoods & hike/bike trails. We are bathed with sunshine & fresh air & moments from the town of Mendocino. The space This comfortable country home was originally built on the property in 1921 and has been lovingly restored. A light and sun filled house is surrounded by acres of meadows and forest land. World class hiking and biking trails surround the property. Our place is not super fancy, but it is clean and comfortable, warm and friendly. Guests love our place, and make many return visits. Please do be aware that this is a country home and with that comes county charm. Occasionally a forest critter will pay a visit and sometimes the lights flicker in a winter storm. It's all part of the adventure! The beds and bedding are all luxurious. There is a fireplace for cozy ambiance, and the house is comfortably heated with a fueled wall heater. Wood floors are throughout the house with throw rugs and lounging pillows. Enjoy the bathtub for soaking, and a tiled shower. The kitchen has all that you will need to create and enjoy meals. A detached outbuilding hosts a second bathroom. A glass house lit by a sparkling chandelier is a sweet place to enjoy a glass of local wine or cup of tea while enjoying the natural sights and surrounds. A queen size bed in the private bedroom sleeps two. A smaller, light filled room has a full size bed suitable for an additional person or two. Larger groups enjoy adding on additional cabins at Heartwood Mendocino. The cabins have comfy beds with heated pads, down comforters and luxurious pillows. We accept well behaved pets with a pet fee of $50.00 each. Please confirm your hopes to bring a pet before booking. Guest access The privacy of the house is yours to enjoy. The kitchen is fully supplied with all the cookware, appliances and dishware that you will need to prepare a fine meal using the new appliances including a propane stove, dishwasher, and full size fridge. A barbeque is available on the deck. There is a fire circle to sit around and roast marshmallows and star gaze. Ellies Farmhouse is part of the larger property called Heartwood Mendocino, which is cabins and upgraded camping inspired spaces. Ellie's is private from the other areas, but you may certainly enjoy that area as well. You will not want to miss checking out the amazing outdoor stump shower over there! Other things to note Rate INCLUDES county bed tax of 11%. You will enjoy your time here without a strong connection to media and electronics. There is only spotty cell service at this property, and there is no television or wi-fi in the house. Board games, books and lawn games are supplied. Ours is a comfortable country home, you will have all the things you need for a wonderful stay. Like most country homes, there are some special bonuses... you might see a banana slug on the deck or window and its slime trail will remain, a fox might pass through and leave you proof, redwood needles will fall from the trees onto the deck. If you have personal items that you rely on (hair tools, specific kitchen gadgets, etc.) you should bring them. Surely you will understand that this is part of country living and embrace the natural adventure!
