Cosy cottage in historic stables, with wooden bath

Cosy accommodation in beautiful Grade II Listed stables restored using eco-friendly materials. Located in the county of Lincolnshire, close to the historic town of Woodhall Spa with its shops, restaurants, cinema, golf courses and aviation history, less than half an hour to Lincoln with its castle, cathedral and museums and just one hour's drive through the beautiful Wolds to the coast. Big skies, lots of stars, loads of walks and cycle routes makes this county a very special one! The space The Bothy sleeps 2 in a peaceful bedroom, but there is also an additional sleeping space in the single box bed in the living area which is ideal for a child. Your dog is welcome too, but please no large dog breeds and no excessive barking! Also, leaving your dog in the Bothy while you are out is definitely against the rules. We welcome a maximum of 2 well-behaved dogs. About the accommodation - We carefully and lovingly restored our stables a few years ago using natural eco-friendly materials to create a beautiful space for people who want to relax and unwind. It is cosy, comfortable and warm and the earthy colour schemes and internal decoration have been chosen to reflect its original use as a part of a farm building. Special features include exposed beams, lime-washed walls and other historic features as well as a wood-burning stove, an attractive wooden bath and walk-in shower, an unusual box bed in the living area and a hamper of lovely goodies. You'll be treated to a loaf of plum bread, jam, chocolates, and wine. And there's also milk, butter, tea and coffee too. Other essentials such as loo paper, kitchen roll and cleaning products (all eco-friendly and sustainable products) are also provided. The warmth is provided by both the wood burner and underfloor heating and the heat is retained due to the amount of natural insulation we used in the restoration. You can relax on the comfortable sofa or in the small box bed in the living area. The kitchen has everything you need to cook up your dinner on the Everhot range. The hand-made kitchen units and brick paver floor all give the Bothy a lovely farmhouse feel. The beamed bedroom, sleeping 2, is also cosy and warm. The King size bed is made up with cotton or linen sheets with a goose feather-filled duvet and you'll also have the use of cotton dressing gowns. This accommodation is perfect for 2 adults sleeping in the bedroom, but the box bed in the living area is also great for one child! The bathroom is definitely worth spending plenty of time in! Not only does it have a lovely walk-in shower, but you'll also find a deep wooden bath perfect for two! Eco-friendly and ethical toiletries are all provided. The Bothy is part of the stables which may have served as a living/eating area for the farm workers who worked on the land owned by the wealthy farmer and his family living in the Manor House. Just outside the back door is your private little garden solely for the use of Bothy guests. It has a wooden table and 3 chairs, sun loungers, basket swing, bird-feeding table and a BBQ set, making it a lovely 'room' to relax in. Parking is just in front of the Bothy. The Hayloft is above the Bothy on the first floor and if you book both out, you can use the internal staircase to connect the two. There is plenty to do in the local area. Once you are in the accommodation you will find a book full of all my recommendations of where to go, what to see, what to eat and where you can drink! Guest access The village of Martin is ideally located in the centre of the large county of Lincolnshire and within driving distance of the Wolds, Coast and Fens. The historic city of Lincoln is less than half an hour's drive and the lovely Victorian town of Woodhall Spa is just 5 miles away. The nearest train station is at Metheringham (4 miles) which has links with Sleaford, Peterborough, Lincoln and Newark. Newark, with train connections to London and the rest of Britain, is about 45 minutes by car. Buses leave the village regularly for Lincoln, Sleaford and Woodhall Spa. We can collect you from Metheringham train station if you arrange it with us in advance. Our nearest airport is East Midlands International Airport, just under 60 miles away. Other things to note For Electric Car owners - car charging point available at the property – small fee payable for electricity used. Please enquire. Maximum of 2 small to medium sized well-behaved dogs are welcome in the Bothy. Please no disruptive, barking dogs as guests are here to relax! A total of £20 is payable per stay (not per dog).
