1920s Queenslander with sweeping valley views

Stay in a private 1920s Queenslander set high on a 110-acre working farm, with sweeping views across Laceys Creek to the D’Aguilar Range. Mackenzie Creek Homestead (formerly Lacey’s Creek Homestead) is just 10 minutes from Dayboro and around 50 minutes from Brisbane. Coloured glass, polished timber floors, a wood fire, farm animals and deep country quiet make it feel a world away. Sleeps six across three bedrooms. The space Mackenzie Creek is a genuine country homestead rather than a resort. Built in the 1920s and moved to the farm in the 1970s (from the farm next door), the guest house has been restored with its character intact: 12-foot ceilings, coloured-glass casement windows, polished timber floors, collected vintage furniture and a wood-burning fire. The house sleeps six across three bedrooms and includes a full country kitchen, a generous living and dining room, a sunroom, veranda and one private bathroom. The entire guest homestead is yours alone. Outside are 110 acres of ridgelines, paddocks, seasonal creeks and walking tracks. Depending on the season, you may see our Dexter & Angus cattle nearby, with chooks, ducks and geese moving through the farmyard. Our small Fiano vineyard sits below the ridge. This is a place for slow breakfasts, country walks and a drink on the veranda as the last light moves across the valley. Our family lives in a separate house on the farm, close enough to help while leaving you to enjoy the homestead in peace. Other things to note Like much of regional Australia, mobile reception is Telstra only and can be patchy, which many guests enjoy as a chance to properly switch off. As we rely on rainwater, we ask guests to please be mindful of water use, particularly during drier periods. The homestead is over 100 years old and has a few charming quirks typical of its era. One of these is the bathroom, which is attached to the house but accessed via an external door (approximately a 2-metre walk). We recommend checking local road conditions before travelling, as summer rainfall can occasionally cause temporary closures.
