The space On Halfway Lake (aka Long Lake), we are located 10 minutes south of Barry's Bay, Ontario, a popular and well-known Madawaska Valley destination. We are in the Kaszuby region of the Valley, the first Polish settlement in Canada. The cottage is secluded, surrounded by forest from the south, east, west, and Halfway Lake to the north. We guarantee you will enjoy unspoiled stargazing, stunning sunrises, and relax to the wind and loon calls. A beautifully appointed two bedroom cottage. The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed which overlooks the lake -- catch a beautiful sunrise! Second bedroom has a double and single bunk-bed. Warm wood floors and walls, that get warmer using the big wood stove in the living room. Full modern media amenities including LCD TV, DVD player, and iPod capable speaker system with subwoofer. Comfy couches make it easy to relax or entertain, there is also an oversized European-style sofa-bed. Full kitchen with a table, large stove and fridge, plenty of cupboard space. Bathroom features large glass shower, soaker bathtub, modern sink and a washer + dryer -- you'll love the heated tile floors in the morning! Large BBQ on the covered back deck; front deck has a stunning view of Halfway Lake. We have a fire pit so you can enjoy an evening fire and do some star gazing. There is swimming off the large dock on Halfway Lake, or there are many beautiful beaches nearby. You can trek the numerous trails off Channonhouse Road and Old Barry's Bay Road for hiking, walking, snowmobiling, or cross-country skiing. Down-hill skiing is less than 5 minutes away. Personal recommendation: Visit the Barry's Bay Dairy (aka The Greasy Spoon) for Breakfast one morning (though they make great Lunch and Dinner too!) for some classic diner cooking -- a local legend!
