Historic home with magnificent property
Enjoy a luxurious stay at One Vanderbilt Lane. Very close to the Culinary Institute of America, Walkway Over The Hudson, FDR Home and Library, Vanderbilt Mansion, Rhinebeck, Dutchess County Fairgrounds, Marist, Vassar and Bard Colleges. A lovely, historic home, formerly part of the Vanderbilt Estate, a 19th century Gilded Age Mansion, in scenic Hyde Park,. When FDR was in town the secret service would sleep in this house. This is documented in the archives in the Roosevelt Library. The space One Vanderbilt Lane is located very close to the Culinary Institute of America (CIA), Vanderbilt Mansion and FDR Home and Library. It is next to St. James Church where FDR was baptized and where his funeral service was held. There are notable, historic figures buried in the cemetery in back of the church. Vanderbilt Lane is a National Historic site. The former Vanderbilt stables, blacksmith house, the creamery, a carriage house and farm workers residence are located on this street. One Vanderbilt Lane sits on approximately 4 acres of land with a vast array of foliage and gardens, built-in swimming pool, as well as a pond. Upstairs (available to guests), there are two bed rooms plus a half bath, both have flat screen TVs. The main bath for this suite is located next to the bottom of the staircase. The steps were put in at the time that the house was built and are not as modern as the ones built today. A person with mobility issues may have a problem climbing them. The upstairs rooms are cozy and have slanted ceilings. A large living area with fireplace on the main floor is a great place to relax. Should you desire to have your meals at One Vanderbilt, there is a large kitchen with a breakfast nook as well as a separate dining room for use, and a screened in porch with seating for eating. In summer and part of fall, a built in pool, out door barbecue and dining/lounge patio area are available. It's a great place to escape and get away from the stresses of life! Guest access Our home is comprised of two sections. Guests will have access to the main part of the house including the bathroom dedicated for the upstairs bedrooms, living room, dining room and kitchen/breakfast nook. There is parking for 3 cars in the rear of the house. An outdoor pool, barbecue and dining area are open and available during summer and part of fall. There is a desk in one of the upstairs bedrooms as well as a multi power plug with a phone charger on it. My sister and I reside in a section of the house that is attached, but separate from the private areas guests will reside in during their stay. We share the main kitchen with guests. During your stay I look forward to welcoming all of our guests upon arrival and happy to assist with information. We understand that you may want to be on your own and self sufficient. Regardless, I look forward to hosting you and making your stay as enjoyable and hassle free as possible. Other things to note I have prepared a guide of our area, included on this site for reference, but it by no means includes all of what our area offers. If you are looking for things to do or see that are not in the guide, please let me know. We have a lot of information and suggestions for you.
